3 From Hell is the follow-up to Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses (2003) and The Devil's Rejects (2005). In the opening minutes, we learn the serial killers Baby Firefly (played by Sheri Moon Zombie), her adopted brother Otis Driftwood (played by Bill Moseley, and Captain Spaulding (played by the late Sid Haig) miraculously survived being shot 20 times each by the police. They were tried and convicted for their crimes.
Spoiler Warning: Captain Spaulding is executed by lethal injection, while Otis and Baby are sentenced to life in prison. Well, that is until Otis' half-brother Winslow Foxworth "Foxy" Coltrane (played by Richard Brake) helps Otis escape. Then they come up with a plan to break Baby out of the slammer. The trio go on a killing spree as they head off to Mexico to escape the authorities.

Good Morning, Everyone!
I cannot believe it's been nearly five months since my last Monday Morning Madness post. If you've followed any of my Sunday Posts, then you would know I have had many ups and downs over the past year that are not related to the pandemic. I'm not going to go into details here, as I'm sure everyone is tired of hearing me talk about it. However, I want to say that I'm doing well and trying my best to deal with things.
For those who participate in the weekly Book Blogger Hop every Friday, you would've noticed a new look for the logo and prompt image. While I love the previous logo, the cream colors didn't blend well with my blog's design. Therefore, I had to make a change, and hopefully, everyone will like it. If not, feel free to use one of the previous logos or your own.
Speaking of the Book Blogger Hop, I would like to apologize for not posting the prompt questions in our Facebook group. I'm not a big fan of social media, and if I didn't have this blog, I probably wouldn't be on Facebook or Twitter. It's just too time-consuming, and at times it can be a bit stressful.
I'll be bringing back The Midnight Horror Review posts sometime soon. I'm trying to figure out a different way to write the reviews, so they'll sound independent from my regular DVD/Blu-ray reviews. They might be more of a respective than a review, though I haven't made my final decision on it. The one thing I do know is I want to make those posts stand out more.
There will be a few other changes to this blog. It's just small things, such as changing past posts titles and spelling and grammar checking on old posts. The changes are nothing major, and I doubt anyone will be able to notice anything. These things have been bugging me for a while, and I need to fix them to save my sanity.

Directed and co-written by Lee Cronin, the 90-minute movie centers around Sarah O'Neill (played brilliantly by Seána Kerslake), a young woman who flees from her abusive husband to the Irish countryside along with her young son Chris (played by James Quinn Markey). Upon arriving at their new home, Chris disappears during the night and later reappears perfectly fine. Or is he?
After an odd encounter with their neighbors,Des and Noreen Brady (played by James Cosmo and Kati Outinen), Sarah starts to wonder if there's something not quire with her son, who isn't quite acting like himself. She fears something else from the beyond has replaced Chris. Scared for her life, Sarah is determined to learn the truth, which is somehow connected to the huge sinkhole located in the forest near their home.

My first post-Christmas read will be Star Wars: Heir to the Empire by Timothy Zahn, which is a book I read during my childhood; though I can't remember a single thing about it. I had planned on reading it yesterday but I ended up watching the new season of Lost In Space on Netflix. If you haven't seen Netflix's Lost In Space, do so! It's an awesome series.

Good Evening, Everyone!
This past week sucked!!! The weather has been horrible with a few ice storms. Just as my cold/sore throat was finally gone, I caught the flu bug. The only good news is that I finally got some much needed sleep; many thanks to my electric blanket.
My grandma fell again a few days ago. Instead of using the call button to get help, she decided to scoot herself to the foot of the bed, where she slipped off and fell to the floor. She was taken to the medical clinic for an x-ray. Nothing is broken, but she does have a pulled muscle in her leg. Due to the weather nobody could get to the nursing home this week, so she was a little upset today (Saturday) at us. My mother told her to stay in the wheelchair! Don't get up! Use the call button for help! Then my grandmother tried to change the subject, which is a bad habit of hers for the last six months or so. I spent most of today (Saturday) helping my mother box up some of my grandma's things. We'll be there again tomorrow, but I don't know how much packing we can get done as we're running out of boxes. My aunt is supposed to be getting the storage unit on Tuesday.
What Am I Currently Reading?
I'm taking a guess that I'm still reading The Passage by Justin Crown. Remember, I'm writing this on post on Saturday at about 5 o'clock in the evening and I'm currently on page 387. At the rate I've been reading, I might have this book read by Sunday morning or somewhere close to it. Then I'll start reading The Twelve and The City of Mirrors, which both are under 600 pages with bigger print.

While cleaning up a pile of junk from my desk, I stumbled upon a blank cardboard DVD envelope, which I had no clue what was inside until I actually opened it. To my surprise, inside the envelope was a DVD-R copy of Attack of the Killer Donuts that was sent to me by Level 33 Entertainment. I had completely forgotten about having the movie!
My apologizes to Level 33 Entertainment for my extremely long delay with this review!
Directed by Scott Wheeler, the film stars Justin Ray, Kayla Compton, Ben Heyman, Kassandra Voyagi, Fredrick Burn, C. Thomas Howell, and Michael Swan.
Attack of the Killer Donuts centers around a twenty-something Johnny, a slacker who lives with his mother and Uncle Luther, a scientist. He spends his days working at a local doughnut shop with his friend Michelle, who has a crush on him.
One day Uncle Luther comes into the shop wanting to "borrow" Johnny's laptop and accidentally dumps a green substance into the fryer pan. Unknowingly to them, Johnny and Michelle fry donuts all afternoon that have been infected with the green substance, which reanimates the donuts into murderous creatures.
Nothing can stop the killer donuts from munching on the townsfolk, not even the town's two dumb cops (played by Fredrick Burn and C. Thomas Howell). It's up to Johnny, Michelle, and Howard (played by Ben Heyman) - Johnny's best friend who happens to be sleeping with his mother - to stop the donuts' killing spree.

About the Book
What
is The Nightmare Machine? Think Silent Hill meets Inception and Monster
Hunter International.
Five millennia of suffering. A pilgrimage steeped in terror. Will her quest
bring redemption or only a false promise of salvation?
Bangor,
Maine. Sara Holcomb knows what she must do. Raised within a secret order
devoted to protecting humanity from a malevolent god, the dutiful
seventeen-year-old prepares for a terrifying expedition through a world of
nightmares. So when the time comes, she convinces three close friends to escort
her on a perilous journey to an otherworldly cathedral of bone and blood.
Transported
to a land of chaos and horror while they sleep, Sara wrestles with guilt at
bringing people she holds dear to this hell from which they may not escape. And
as vicious traps and pitiless creatures tear at their bodies and minds, the
honor-bound young woman fears they won’t be strong enough to complete the
mission that will preserve mankind.
Purchase the book directly from Tim! There’s also a prequel novella!
My Review
THE NIGHTMARE MACHINE is an exciting start to a new series, specifically—a trilogy. In just a few pages, Tim White, the author, captures readers' attention and transports them to a fantastical voyage. On paper, the plot of a teenager, Sara, destined to save the world sounds tired and repetitive—but rescued by the author's brilliant use of expression and vivid descriptions help to give Sara genuine emotional depth. The other characters, particularly Sara's friends, are also well-written.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed reading THE NIGHTMARE MACHINE—and the nearly 600 pages flew by quickly. You will have a good time reading it. ╌★★★★★
About Tim White
Tim White is
an author, editor, writing coach, and game designer in Phoenix, Arizona. He
started writing fiction in 1996 and nonfiction in 2006. As of 2023, he has
published more than 1,000 nonfiction articles and three nonfiction books. He
has written three novels, four novellas, dozens of tabletop role-playing game
(TTRPG) scripts, and hundreds of short stories.
Tim is a
zealous crusader for the power of storytelling to promote human flourishing. He
writes fiction in several genres, particularly one that he calls “Romantic
horror” (as in “Romantic-era novelists” such as Victor Hugo and Alexandre
Dumas, not as in “romance novel”). This little-known genre is unique in that it
uses fear as a backdrop against which heroism is sharply contrasted,
dramatized, and elevated.
Tim’s storytelling philosophy is summed up eloquently by one of his favorite authors:
“I often
hear people say that they read to escape reality, but I believe that what
they’re really doing is reading to find reason for hope, to find strength.
While a bad book leaves readers with a sense of hopelessness and despair, a
good novel, through stories of values realized, of wrongs righted, can bring to
readers a connection to the wonder of life. A good novel shows how life can and
ought to be lived. It not only entertains but energizes and uplifts readers.” ―
Terry Goodkind
Before
transitioning to writing full time, Tim was an Army combat medic, and later, a
nurse paramedic specializing in trauma and surgery. He is a lifelong shooter
and has ranked moderately well in state-level 3-gun competitions. He loves
board games, video games, and role-playing games; cats; Pembroke Corgis; good
coffee; good books; and escape rooms. He owns an escape room venue in Arizona,
where he designs and builds every prop and puzzle in-house.

What Am I Currently Reading?
My original intention was to read Fire & Blood by George R.R. Martin last week, but that didn't happen. I didn't have very much free time to read; though I should have gotten up and read the book at night instead of tossing and turning when I couldn't sleep. I was sent a copy of Ashes in the Snow by Ruta Sepetys and I read 108 pages yesterday. I'm determined to finish reading it today! Then I'm going to read Who I Am with You by Robin Lee Hatcher, as my review for it is due on the 17th! After I get done with those two books, then I'll put my full attention on Fire & Blood, which I really do want to read!
