{Monday Morning Madness} - Book Blogger Hop, Reviews, and The Midnight Horror

How is everyone doing on this rainy Monday? Yes, I said rainy! If you live in the midwest, like me, you know it has been a rainy summer. I planned on mowing the yard today, but that's not going to be happening. It rained just enough in the early morning hours to ruin my day. According to the local news, Tuesday will be cloud-free with warmer temperatures. Guess what I'll be doing tomorrow? Lol!

{Monday Morning Madness} - Birthday Wishlist and Email Subscriptions

Good Afternoon, Everyone!

I had all intentions of having this post written and published early this morning. But thanks to other responsibilities beyond my control, I didn't have time to do so until after 3 PM. So this is more of an afternoon post than a morning one.

{Monday Morning Madness] - Feedburner, Interracial Dating, and Baseball

Good Morning, Everyone!

Yes, I'm well aware it's no longer consider morning, but I do have a good excuse for the lateness of this post. For some reason, Microsoft decided to update my laptop this morning even though I have the automatic update settings turned off. It took forever for everything to download, install, and reboot. (FYI - I turned off the updates because I'm sick and tired of Microsoft wanting to install updates every other day. When you have things to do, it becomes annoying.)

Monday Morning Madness - Why Do I Love Reading Romances?

Good Morning, Everyone!

It's come to my attention that many of my recent subscribers and followers came aboard after I wrote about horror novels and movies. So, there will be more romanticism posts in the coming weeks. No, this isn't a change of direction for this blog. For those of you who don't already know, Rambling of a Coffee Addicted Writer began with me reviewing many romance novels. Yes, the guy who watched Michael Myers stalk Laurie Strode at the age of seven-years-old, somehow fell in love with romance novels. Why? How? I don't exactly have a 100% answer, but I guess I have a sensitive side that likes reading about fictional characters falling in love with each other. Sappy, right?

{Monday Morning Madness} - Book Blogger Hop and Midnight Horror Reviews

Good Morning, Everyone!

I cannot believe it's been nearly five months since my last Monday Morning Madness post. If you've followed any of my Sunday Posts, then you would know I have had many ups and downs over the past year that are not related to the pandemic. I'm not going to go into details here, as I'm sure everyone is tired of hearing me talk about it. However, I want to say that I'm doing well and trying my best to deal with things.

For those who participate in the weekly Book Blogger Hop every Friday, you would've noticed a new look for the logo and prompt image. While I love the previous logo, the cream colors didn't blend well with my blog's design. Therefore, I had to make a change, and hopefully, everyone will like it. If not, feel free to use one of the previous logos or your own.

Speaking of the Book Blogger Hop, I would like to apologize for not posting the prompt questions in our Facebook group. I'm not a big fan of social media, and if I didn't have this blog, I probably wouldn't be on Facebook or Twitter. It's just too time-consuming, and at times it can be a bit stressful.

I'll be bringing back The Midnight Horror Review posts sometime soon. I'm trying to figure out a different way to write the reviews, so they'll sound independent from my regular DVD/Blu-ray reviews. They might be more of a respective than a review, though I haven't made my final decision on it. The one thing I do know is I want to make those posts stand out more.

There will be a few other changes to this blog. It's just small things, such as changing past posts titles and spelling and grammar checking on old posts. The changes are nothing major, and I doubt anyone will be able to notice anything. These things have been bugging me for a while, and I need to fix them to save my sanity.

Monday Morning Madness - Enola Holmes, Murder Thy Neighbor, and Monster, She Wrote

Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer!

Good Morning, Everyone!

The local Salvation Army accepts donations every other week, and last week was it, so I spent most of my free time helping my mother go through my grandma’s belongings that have been in a storage locker for a year and a half. We made about a dozen trips to the Salvation Army throughout the week.

FYI: My grandmother is doing fine in the nursing home.

I went through a closet and donated six boxes full of books to the Salvation Army and gave three other boxes of books to a family friend. I disassembled an old oversized TV stand that I had been using as a bookcase in my bedroom and got rid of it. I dragged out the my dresser and left it out with the garbage. Then I took apart the hand-me-down bed frame and stored it in the shed.

Why did I do all this?

I needed to get my grandma’s furniture out of storage. I took her iron headboard and bed frame, a six-drawer dresser with a tall mirror, a cedar chest, and a loveseat. My mother took the chest of drawers, a glass-cabinet TV stand, and a curio cabinet. Besides the last two, I had to lift everything else by myself, so my back is sore.

Also, I took a small bookcase that has seen better days. I went through some of my grandma’s books and took the ones I wanted, such as Eugenia Price, Victoria Holt, Janice Holt Giles, and a few other authors. There are a few other boxes of books in storage that I must go through today.

Monday Morning Madness - Amish Romances, The Resident, and Vampires

Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer!

Good Morning, Everyone!

I have come to the revelation that I could get more things done if I quit watching music videos on YouTube! I had planned on having this post written & published by 9 AM, but I got a little distracted. If anyone noticed, I didn't put up a Sunday Post yesterday. I had too many things to do, so I am featuring the Sunday Post as a Monday Morning Madness post.

Monday Morning Madness - The Apocalypse is Upon Us!

This post will serve as my "It's Monday! What Are You Reading?" (hosted by The Book Date).

Good Morning, Everyone!

I hope everyone is doing well this morning!

It seems everyone is a little worked up over the current epidemic, which is being overhyped by the media. Don't get me wrong, everyone should be sanitizing their hands and staying clear of anyone who's sick with anything, especially the elderly. Wear a face mask, if need be. However, there's no need to stockpile toilet paper! Good grief! COVID-19 attacks your respiratory system and not your gastrointestinal system. Have some common sense, people!

Monday Morning Madness: Jason Lives, Goosebumps, and Audrey Rose

Good Morning, Everyone!

Yes, I'm doing things a little differently this morning. Since I was under the weather yesterday, I moved my Sunday Post (hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer) to today's Monday Morning Madness. Also, this post will serve as my first "It's Monday! What Are You Reading?" (hosted by The Book Date) for the year.

Monday Morning Madness - A Blog Redesign, Exercising, and Cell Phones

*This is a sponsored post. All opinions are 100% mine.

Everyone needs to forgive me for taking 20 days to post my first Monday Morning Madness of the year. It's already been a busy year for me so far, which has included snow/ice storms, the flu bug, a blog redesign (more on that later in this post), unwanted weight gain, a broken dryer. On the plus side, the KC Chiefs won the AFC Championship yesterday!

Good Morning, Everyone!

Once again, I'm combining this week's Sunday Post (hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer) with today's It's Monday! What Are You Reading (hosted by The Book Date).

What Am I Currently Reading?

I'll start reading Phantom Audition by Simon Dillon sometime today. My review will be posted on Wednesday.

Monday Morning Madness: Decaf for the Dead and Paperbacks From Hell

Good Afternoon, Everyone!

Yes, I'm well aware it's way past noon. Originally, I wanted to have this post published earlier but I got distracted by several other things. Once again, I'm combining this week's Sunday Post (hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer) with today's It's Monday! What Are You Reading (hosted by The Book Date).

What Am I Currently Reading?

Tomorrow, I'll be reading Decaf for the Dead by Sandy Lo, who nicely sent me a review copy. I posted an interview with Sandy Lo on Saturday, which you can read right here!

Last week, was  a reread week for me with The Shining and Doctor Sleep. I'll probably be writing reviews for them sometime later in the week. I never got around to reading Rise of the Gorgon by Galen Surlak-Ramsey so it'll probably be next read after Decaf for the Dead. Then I'm going to start reading the books I have lined up for this year's Holiday Gift Guide.

Monday Morning Madness: Annabelle & Horror Books

It seems autumn has indeed finally arrived in the midwest as the leaves are falling from the trees and the weather is cooler.

Anyway, just like last week I'm combining my Sunday Post (a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer) and It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (a weekly meme hosted by The Book Date) into one single post.

What Am I Currently Reading?

I didn't get a whole lot of reading finished done last week because I was busy with other things. As I'm writing this, I'm on page 202 of The Institute by Stephen King, which I read quite a bit of this morning. I'm really interest in it so I'm hoping it won't take me more than two days to finish it. I've actually got a reading plan/schedule for this month and it's extremely crammed. My next reads will be Stranger Things: Suspicious Minds and Buckskin by Robert Knott. Then I have 13 horror titles I'll be reading and reviewing later this month.

Monday Morning Madness: The Institute, Stranger Things, and Buckskin

This year has went by extremely fast. I can't believe tomorrow is October 1st. However, if you step outside you wouldn't believe it's already autumn. I'm hoping the weather will eventually cool off!!

Anyway, I believe it's been two weeks since I'd last participated in Caffeinated Reviewer's Sunday Post and it's been many weeks since I last posted a It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (a weekly meme hosted by The Book Date), so I'm combining the two into a "Monday Morning Madness" post.

What Am I Currently Reading?

I placed a bookmark inside The Institute by Stephen King last Friday but I haven't started reading it yet. Hopefully, I can read a few pages of the novel tonight after I watch Lodge 49 on AMC.

Last night, I read a few pages of the eBook The Ghost Hunter's Daughter by Caroline Flarity. It's been on my Kindle for a few months so I thought I should finally get around to reading it. I'm liking it so far. Once I finish it, then I'll be reading Met Her Match by Jude Deveraux, which is also on my Kindle.

Monday Morning Madness: June 3, 2019

There's nothing better to help kickstart a Monday morning than drinking a cup of coffee - or in my case several cups of caffeine heavenly bliss. And I guess the extra energy could explain why I'm writing a Monday Morning Madness post, which is something I haven't done in quite a long time.

Did anyone watch NOS4A2 on AMC last night?

If you weren't already aware, I spent the last few weeks reading NOS4A2 by Joe Hill (read my review here), so I was pretty hyped about the series. Now after watching the first episode, I have mixed feelings about the series. I have nothing against the cast and everyone's acting is fine, but I don't like the changes the scriptwriters and producers have already made with the story. Despite my negative feelings, I'm going to keep watching and see how it turns out.

Of course I had to watch the season premiere of Fear the Walking Dead, which was action-packed and just plain fun to watch! FYI: I loved the fourth season and disliked the majority of the first three seasons.

I've also been watching The Spanish Princess on STARZ. It's somewhat of a spinoff sequel to The White Queen and The White Princess miniseries, which are all based on the works by author Philippa Gregory. Actually, I believe The Spanish Princess is based on two novels, The Constant Princess and The King's Curse. Let's just say this third miniseries has been a big disappointment so far with some of the worst acting ever put to screen! At least there are only 3 episodes left.

Monday Morning Madness: November 5, 2018

I barely made it through last week. Between Halloween and dealing with my grandma's issues, I am extremely stressed! Actually, my grandma's dementia has been my #1 problem this year. She's 77 and lives in an apartment that is in a small senior community. For the last six months, she has refused to leave her apartment. Well, until my mother and me practically dragged her to the doctor's office last week. (Don't worry we didn't actually drag her.) We thought the doctor might put her in the hospital or recommend putting her in a nursing home, but all he did was take one medication away that he thought was interfering with a new antidepressant. If this doesn't work, the doctor said he would try other medications, which is probably what's going to happen.

For the past few weeks, either my mom or me have been taking my grandmother's meals to her, as she refuses to cook anything for herself. While she does have dementia, she's capable of doing some things if she wants to, but that's the main problem, she doesn't want to do anything. She has suffered from depression most of her life and it has gotten worse since her older brother died this year.

I'm sick of tired that my mother and me are the only two people in my family who will help my grandma. I have two aunts, one uncle (who is worthless), and several "adult" cousins that will do nothing. Now, an aunt and two cousins do live far away, but the rest are just lazy! They won't send cards to my grandmother, not even for her birthday or Mother's Day. Her son (who I refuse to my call "uncle") hasn't visited her in years.

Thanksgiving is less than three weeks away and my grandma has already said she isn't going to the family dinner, which will only consist of my parents, my dad's brother, my maternal aunt, her husband, and their three young kids, and myself. Let's just say I'm not looking forward to the holidays this year. I'm actually dreading it.

Monday Morning Madness: October 15, 2018

Once again, I'm a little late with my Monday Morning Madness post! I meant to have this written early this morning, but I was tinkering with this blog's coding and lost track of time. Yes, I said coding, which is something I know very little about. My blog designer is AWOL; actually I believe she might have been finishing college. Anyway, I've had to learn how to create icons, post headers, and other graphics. And now I'm trying to learn coding.

IntenseDebate Is Staying For the Time Being

It has come to my attention that a few reader can't comment with the IntenseDebate comment system. I apologize for the inconvenience, but the IntenseDebate is staying on this blog for now. I get way too much spam through the Blogger's comment system, which is one of reasons why I switched. I'm well aware the IntenseDebate is missing the Wordpress, IntenseDebate, and Twitter login butson. I'll try to get this fixed, if it's even possible. The old Blogger comments have been restored to all the old posts and you still comment on them using the old comment system.

Don't worry this isn't going to be a permanent thing! I do have plans for the blog.

Book Blogger Hop's Future

Don't worry! I'm not getting rid of the meme. I have a few new ideas and rules to improve the Book Blogger Hop. My ideas are in the early stages right now, so there won't be any official changes until 2019.

Monday Morning Madness: October 8, 2018

Wow! I didn't even know it was Columbus Day until I glanced at the calendar. I caught a cold over the weekend, which probably had a little to do with rainy weather, so I accidentally slept in this morning. Yes, I'm well aware that it's no longer in the morning, but I wanted to get this "news" post written and published for all my followers.

Book Blogger Hop News

The Book Blogger Hop is going really well, despite the fact that I haven't been participating much in my own meme. Hopefully, that's going to change. I spent some time on Saturday visiting everyone's blogs and replied to my blog's comments (more on the comments later in this post). I believe there are three or four more participants, so I'll try to get to those blogs sometime today.

There have been quite a few new questions sent in for 2019. However, there are still several weeks that needs to filled, especially for next's year's "Halloween Edition." So, make sure to send in your questions.

Each week's hop question will now be located in the top of the sidebar. Or you can just visit the Book Blogger Hop page or my weekly post.

There's a New Comment Box!

If you're wanting to comment on the Book Blogger Hop post from last week, you can't anymore. All previous comments on all posts are no more. Starting yesterday, all new posts will now use the InstenseDebate comment box! Why the change? Well, I get way too much spam in the old comment system and I just didn't like the layout. To use the InstenseDebate comment system, you can either make an InstenseDebate profile or sign into your Wordpress account, or sign in as a guest by using your email.

(Well, actually you can still comment on last week's post, but all previous posts have been removed. You now have to use the InstenseDebate comment system.)

New Social Icons and Post Headers

It seems my blog designer disappeared last year, so I made some much need fixes to my blog! Three of the social icons next to the "Contact Me  →" area no longer exist, so I had to learn how to make three replacement icons. And I believe I did a pretty good job. I now have icons for YouTube, Instagram, and Pinterest!

Also, I have made brand-new post headers for Fall Reads, Winter Reads, Spring Reads, Summer Reads, DVD Reviews, Blu-ray Reviews, Music Reviews, and Monday Morning Madness. I made the headers with the Canva Graphic Design. Considering I know very little about graphic design, I think the headers look really good.

New Memes!

Starting yesterday I am now participating in the weekly meme called Sunday Post! You can read my first post here. And beginning today, I'm rejoining the weekly meme, It's Monday! What are you reading?, and you can read that post here.

Monday Morning Madness #62: Core De Force & Reviews

Yeah, I know it's been awhile since I have posted a "Monday Morning Madness" post, so thought I would go ahead and at least write one post for 2017, but hopefully there will be more. Anyhow, my original plan was to review the Greens Super Food in this post, but I've changed my mind and I'll feature it as a "Late Night Fitness Review" later in the week.

I'll also be reviewing the Protein Energy Power, which I just received four sample flavors (Banana, Chocolate, Honey, Original) a few minutes ago in the mail. I'll try out one of them tomorrow after my workout.

Yes, I'm still working out, but it's not my New Year's Resolution. Actually, I started a new workout program (Core De Force) on Dec. 26th, so it doesn't count as a resolution. Actually, I don't have a resolution for this year, though I might attempt to stop procrastinating.

Core De Force is the new MMA-style core/cardio workout from Beachbody. I had purchased the basic program as an early Christmas present for myself. There's a lot of kicking and punching in it, which is just the kind of workout that I like. I won't record my weight again until after tomorrow's workout (Day 30, which is the last day of the program), but I believe I have lost around 4 or 5 pounds. It might not sound like a lot for month, but I have lost over two inches my waist.

Monday Morning Madness #58: Kick Start Your Mornings With These Coffees!

There's no better way to kickoff a Monday morning than drinking a great cup of coffee! And coffee has becoming more and more popular because of the KEURIG craze!

Now, I don't own a KEURIG, but I do have a Hamilton Beach Flex Brew, which also uses K-Cups!

Earlier this month, I received the Java Factory Variety Pack, featuring 40 single-serve cups.

It has six different flavors:

Choconut (chocolate+coconut flavored coffee)
DA BOMB (extra bold dark roast coffee)
Wakey Wakey (light roast coffee)
Smooth Caffeinator (medium roast coffee)
Dark And Handsome (extra bold dark roast coffee)
Vanilla Dream (vanilla+butter toffee flavored coffee)

DA BOMB!
