There's nothing better to help kickstart a Monday morning than drinking a cup of coffee - or in my case several cups of caffeine heavenly bliss. And I guess the extra energy could explain why I'm writing a Monday Morning Madness post, which is something I haven't done in quite a long time.
Did anyone watch NOS4A2 on AMC last night?
If you weren't already aware, I spent the last few weeks reading NOS4A2 by Joe Hill (read my review here), so I was pretty hyped about the series. Now after watching the first episode, I have mixed feelings about the series. I have nothing against the cast and everyone's acting is fine, but I don't like the changes the scriptwriters and producers have already made with the story. Despite my negative feelings, I'm going to keep watching and see how it turns out.
Of course I had to watch the season premiere of Fear the Walking Dead, which was action-packed and just plain fun to watch! FYI: I loved the fourth season and disliked the majority of the first three seasons.
I've also been watching The Spanish Princess on STARZ. It's somewhat of a spinoff sequel to The White Queen and The White Princess miniseries, which are all based on the works by author Philippa Gregory. Actually, I believe The Spanish Princess is based on two novels, The Constant Princess and The King's Curse. Let's just say this third miniseries has been a big disappointment so far with some of the worst acting ever put to screen! At least there are only 3 episodes left.
On Saturday nights, I've been watching the second and final season of The Son on AMC starring Pierce Brosnan. It's an underappreciated western based on the book by Philipp Meyer. The series was cancelled before the second season premiered. I'm hoping the showrunners had time to give the show a proper ending. With the series ending in four week, I'm wanting to read the novel. I had bought the book shortly after watching season one nearly two years ago but it got put on a bookshelf and I just forgot about havingit. I might start reading it towards the end of the week. I'm currently reading A Justified Murder by Jude Deveraux and then I'll be reading Cari Mora by Thomas Harris.
While was at my local Dollar Tree store yesterday morning, I bought two $1 Blu-rays - The Infiltrator and Fright Night 2: New Blood. I'd never even heard of The Infiltrator before stumbling upon the Blu-ray. I only bought it because it stars Bryan Cranston (a.k.a. Walter White). As for Fright Night 2, I saw the movie a few years ago and I liked it.. And, no, this isn't the 1988 sequel to the original classic, but instead it's a sequel to the 2013 remake. Wait a minute... actually, it's not a sequel to the remake. It's really a second remake of the original with a few elements from the 1988 sequel infused into the story! Confused yet?
