The Caffeinated Book Reviewer's Kimberly hosts a weekly meme called "The Sunday Post"!

* Weekly Tidbits *

  • Over the past week, I've been suffering from a bad cold. It started as a simple sore throat, which was bearable, but it rapidly progressed into a head cold. For a few days, I couldn't speak. I'm still stuffy and coughing. FYI: I probably shouldn't have mowed the yard on Friday afternoon in the cold weather.

{Sunday Post} — Are Snakes Necessary?, The First Order, and Weeks: Book Three

The Caffeinated Book Reviewer's Kimberly hosts a weekly meme called "The Sunday Post"!

* Weekly Tidbits *

  • I'm too lazy to write any weekly tidbits.

What Am I Currently Reading?

I have fewer than 100 pages left in Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child's Bloodless, which I want to finish today. Next, I'll dive into Gretchen McNeil's Three Drops of Blood, which I'll review for a blog tour on March 29. Then I'll start reading the Dungeons & Dragons books. In addition, I'm now on page 39 of Lawrence Block's The Girl with the Long Green Heart. I'd had the paperback for a while and pulled it from a shelf on a sleepless night to read a bit of it.

Recent Reviews

What's in the Mail?

The Immortal Detective by D.B. Woodling and Weeks: Book 3 by Jasyn T. Turley were among the new ARCs. I then got Are Snakes Necessary? by Brian De Palma and Susan Lehman, which I bought from Hamilton Books.

What's New on the Shelf?

I picked up Wish You Well by David Baldacci and The First Order by Jeff Abbott at the thrift shop. I failed to mention in last week's post that I purchased Lisa Unger's Confessions on the 7:45.

{Sunday Post} — Dream Town, Shadow Service, and Three Drops of Blood

The Caffeinated Book Reviewer's Kimberly hosts a weekly meme called "The Sunday Post"!

* Weekly Tidbits *

  • It's another cold rainy weekend.

  • I'm falling behind in reviews, so this is how I'll spend my morning writing.

  • So far, Star Trek: Picard: Season Three has been fantastic. It undoes the mess of Seasons One and Two, although Picard is still a synth.

  • The cancellation of "Star Trek: Discovery" proves that there is a God. Season Five, the last, will air next year, however. Still, it's ending!

Weekly Tidbits

  • I detest the chilly, rainy weather that has persisted in Missouri for the past few days. My allergies are acting up as a result. With the addition of acquiring a cold, my weekend hasn't been the best, but at least I got some reading done.

There will be no weekly tidbits this week. I'm too lazy to write them this time.

What Am I Currently Reading?

Fingers crossed! I'm planning on finally starting The Cabinet of Dr. Leng tonight. I'm on page 25 of Life is 10% What Happens to You and 90% How You React by Charles R. Swindoll. I placed a bookmark inside Star Trek: Prodigy: A Dangerous Trade by Cassandra Rose Clarke.

What Am I Currently Reading?

I recently put a bookmark in Preston and Child's The Cabinet of Dr. Leng. This week, I'll be reading it along with Robb Pearlman's Star Trek: Prodigy: Supernova and Cassandra Rose Clarke's Star Trek: Prodigy: A Dangerous Trade

  • The KC Chiefs are Super Bowl champs!

  • Who knew they had SeaQuest DSV toys back in the '90s? I didn't. I stumbled upon the "Darwin" toy at an antique store and paid $5 for it.

What Am I Currently Reading?

I'll start reading Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: High Country by John Jackson Miller sometime today.

Sorry, no "Weekly Tidbits" today.

What Am I Currently Reading?

I'm currently reading Little Paula by V.C. Andrews, which is one of the worst books ever written. Then I'll move on to one of the books in the above image.

{Sunday Post}—A Face to Die For, The Galactic Whirlpool, and The Saboteur

The Caffeinated Book Reviewer's Kimberly hosts a weekly meme called "The Sunday Post"!

Weekly Tidbits

  • The good news, I suppose, is that the Kansas City Chiefs won their playoff game yesterday. The team is still not doing well. They appear to deteriorate with each game. It will be pure luck if they win the AFC Championship this year.

{Sunday Post}—Chainfire, Nothing More Dangerous, and The Sacred Bridge

The Caffeinated Book Reviewer's Kimberly hosts a weekly meme called "The Sunday Post"!

Weekly Tidbits

  • I'm back as an Amazon affiliate. Yes, I've previously signed up for this program, but I've never fulfilled the "three sales in the first 180 days" criterion. I've only had time to add purchase links (mainly for Kindle eBooks) to this post. Additionally, the sidebar contains a Kindle search engine. I want to meet the three sale criteria; so I can stay in the program this time. I'm only letting everyone know what's going on with the Amazon links in this post; nobody has to buy anything.

  • I finally got my hands on a Halloween Ends Blu-ray; it came in the mail today (Saturday). I'll watch it as soon as I get the post set up for Sunday.

{Sunday Post}—Architects of Infinity, From Sawdust to Stardust, and The Man Who Loved Mars

Weekly Tidbits

  • I'm late with today's post, but this time it's more on purpose. This morning, my mother called to ask if I wanted to accompany her to a Walmart in another county, where she was seeking a "foot" for her sewing machine. Since I'd been looking for the Halloween Ends Blu-ray, which I couldn't locate, I agreed to go. For whatever reason, none of the stores in my area are selling the movie, which was released on December 27. I had previously preordered it from Walmart, but the purchase was canceled. I'll attempt to order it from Best Buy if my neighborhood Walmart doesn't have it in stock in the next day or two. Advice: Avoid ordering it from Amazon since, for some reason, they have the Blu-ray priced at MSRP

  • I started the first week of 2023 by working out on three separate days. By exercising, I mean spending 30 minutes at a leisurely speed on a stationary bike in the morning to try to loosen up my legs. I'm going to try to go faster for 30 minutes every morning for five days starting tomorrow (Monday through Friday). Weightlifting is something I might add, but without a bench, it's challenging. I have an exercise ball, and I can use it, but it's difficult. I also have an aerobics step platform with risers that I might use, but it's much trickier to use than the exercise ball.

{Sunday Post}—Her Heart's Desire, Phantasm Compendium, and World Without End

The Caffeinated Book Reviewer's Kimberly hosts a weekly meme called "The Sunday Post"!

Happy New Year!

  • I have had enough of this wacky weather where it's zero degrees one day, and a few days later, it's in the 60s. My allergies have been through the roof for the past few days.

  • I took a break from writing reviews but will return this week with reviews for Dune: The Lady of Caladan and Dune: The Heir of Caladan

  • I bought the Phantasm movie collection on Blu-ray and watched all five movies over the course of three nights.

The Caffeinated Book Reviewer's Kimberly hosts a weekly meme called "The Sunday Post"!

Weekly Tidbits

  • Since I hit a creative stumbling block with a book review, I've set it aside to work on my Sunday Post on a Friday night. After that, I'll return to the review—or reviews—because I have more than one to do tonight.

{Sunday Post}—Books, Depression, and Willow

Weekly Tidbits

  • I didn't have the best week this past week. When I least expect it, melancholy returns and takes over and saps all of my energy, leaving me feeling down, empty, and physically exhausted, to the point where I couldn't get out of bed some days. I'm doing my best to handle everything, so please don't worry about me.
