Weekly Tidbits
The KC Chiefs are headed to the Super Bowl!
Last month, I dropped 10 pounds. That must imply that my lifestyle adjustments are effective.
What Am I Currently Reading?
It was a busy week, so I didn't spend much time reading. I just started reading Clive Clusser's Hellburner by Mike Maden, and I'd like to finish it soon so I can return it to the library at the end of the week. Then, as you can see from the picture above, I have a huge list of books on my reading schedule.
While these aren't ARCs, I know at least one is already out, but I did receive the following books to review: The Cabinet of Dr. Leng by Preston & Child, Cold Light of Day by Elizabeth Goddard, and Daughter of Eden by Jill Eileen Smith. Also, I received a late DVD of Fear the Walking Dead: The Complete Seventh Season.
What's New on the Shelf?
I purchased a slew of "acceptable" books from eBay. First, I got The Trench, Meg: Hell's Aquarium, and Meg: Generation by Steven Alten. Then I bought eight Highlander: The Series books: The Element of Fire by Jason Henderson, Schimitar by Ashley McConnell, Scotland the Brave by Jennifer Roberson, The Path by Rebecca Neason, Zealot by Donna Lettow, Shadow of Obsession by Rebecca Neason, The Captive Soul by Josepha Sherman, and White Silence by Ginjer Buchanan.
I bought the books from two different sellers. The Highlander books came from the seller ThriftBooks. They need to pay attention to what books they get because The Captive Soul was signed by the late author Josepha Sherman. Beside the cover needing a little TLC, the book itself was in decent condition. They should've priced the book higher because of the author's signature.
I picked up the following books from a thrift store: The Emperor's Revenge by Clive Cussler and Boyd Morrison; I Am Legend by Richard Matheson; The Eagle and the Raven by Pauline Gedge; Darkfall by Dean Koontz; and An Hour to Kill by Karin Yapalater.
I got the following books at a Dollar Tree: Hunting the Hangman by Howard Linskey, and First Cosmic Velocity by Zach Powers. At Walmart, I bought The Survivors by Jane Harper, and Quarter to Midnight by Karen Rose.
New titles on my Kindle are Star Trek: Dark Passions: Book One and Book Two by Susan Wright; Star Trek: Picard: Second Self by Una McCormack; Star Trek: The Romulan Way by Diane Duane and Peter Morwood; Tales of Dune by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson; Bloody Fool For Love by William Ritter; One Girl in All the World by Kendare Blake; The Omea Machine by Terry Goodkind; A Kind of Magic: Making the Original Highlander by Jonathan Melville; and Killer, Come Back to Me by Ray Bradbury.
On the first Monday of every month, when the coffee’s strong and the inbox is quiet, a little dispatch arrives. It carries the scent of last month’s book and movie reviews, the echoes of weekly blog hops, and the occasional ramble scribbled between sips. It’s not urgent. It’s not polished. But it’s honest—and it’s yours if you want it.
Bookworm extraordinaire with a caffeine addiction, I’ve spent years dodging reality in the pages of novels—from spine-tingling thrillers to Westerns that make me feel like a cowboy. Join my chaotic love affair with books and movies at Ramblings of a Coffee-Addicted Writer and Gunsmoke & Grit—where words flow faster than my coffee supply!
Congrats! And ooh Meg. Haven't read that but I did get a kick out of the movie.
