{Sunday Post} — Dark Victory, Hawke, and The Girl with the Deep Blue Eyes

The Caffeinated Book Reviewer's Kimberly hosts a weekly meme called "The Sunday Post"!

* Weekly Tidbits *

  • I am finally on the mend from the cold bug.

  • The KC Royals continue to disappoint. They are in last place with a 4-11 record, and as of this writing, they're currently losing to the Atlanta Braves. The score is 1-4 in the top of the fifth inning.

  • Usually, I talk about new ebooks on my Kindle in the last paragraph of the post, but I had to scrap what I had written because I bought two (technically, three) titles today. On April 1, I bought William Shatner's TekWar and TekLab for $1.99 each. They are books one and three of the TekWar series (no connection to Star Trek). There are nine total books in the series. A few days later, books two, TekLords, and four, Tek Vengeance, were lowered to $1.99, and naturally, I bought them. Books two and four were only on sale for a few days. No other books in the series were on sale until the 12th, and it was Tek Net, the ninth book. I thought I had missed the other books on sale because there were a few days when I didn't check the prices. However, that wasn't the case. Books seven and eight (Tek Money and Tek Kill) went on sale two days later. And today, the bundle for Books 4-6 is on sale for $2.99. Instead of waiting for books five and six (Tek Secret and Tek Power) to go on sale for $1.99, I thought I would save a dollar and buy the bundle.

What Am I Currently Reading?

I'm attempting to finish reading Brimstone by Preston & Child, so I can move on to How To Sell a Haunted House by Grady Hendrix. I need to return them to the library by April 26th. Next, I'll read The Partisan by Patrick Worrall for a book blog tour on April 24th. Then I'll finally move on to Weeks: Book 3 by Jasyn Turley, Countdown by James Patterson and Brendan DuBois, and Where Are the Children Now? by Mary Higgins Clark and Alafair Burke.

Also, I'm still on the same page in Lawrence Block's The Girl with the Long Green Heart, which I'll start reading again whenever the mood strikes me.

What's in the Mail?

Lionsgate Home Entertainment sent me a Blu-ray copy of Cocaine Bear, which I haven't had time to watch yet.

The rest of my eBay order finally arrived in the mail. The books are Gunmetal Gray by Mark Greaney, The Girl with the Deep Blue Eyes by Lawrence Block, Star Trek: Dark Victory by William Shatner, and Star Trek: Spectre by William Shatner.

What's New on the Shelf?

I'm not the biggest fan of audiobooks, but I couldn't pass up getting T. M. Logan's 29 Seconds for $1.25 at a Dollar Tree. At Walmart, I picked up the submarine thriller Hawke by Ted Bell.

For the first time, I found a Star Wars book at a thrift store: Star Wars: The New Jedi Order: Traitor by Matthew Stover. I only have a few other books in the series. I believe there is 19 total.

Other paperbacks I got at the thrift store include: The Night She Disappeared by Lisa Jewell, The Liar's Daughter by Claire Allan, State of the Union by Brad Thor, and Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card.

Additionally, I bought three hardbacks for 25 cents each: Max Brand: Five Complete Novels, Zane Grey: Five Complete Novels, and Zane Grey: Four Complete Novels.
