Review:

It's hard to believe that The Berenstain Bears franchise started in 1962 and now has over 300 titles with 260 million copies sold in 23 languages! Sadly, the creators, Stan and Jan Berenstain, have both passed away, but their son Mike Berenstain has continued to write and illustrate more books, which now have Christian themes.

The Berenstain Bears and the Biggest Brag is one of the newest entries in the Living Light series. This tale finds Brother and Sister Bear starting a new habit - bragging and boasting about anything and everything they have done. Papa and Mama are annoyed by this and reminds them what the Bible says, "It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud," but Brother and Sister just continue on with their new bad habit.

One afternoon, Brother and Sister start bragging about the shapes and images they see in the clouds, resulting in an argument, well, that is until Grizzly Gramps happens to walk by and overhear the conversation. He quickly teaches the cubs how silly it is to brag and boast.

Skinology Argan Oil Review

I wasn't aware of all the different plant oils until I started reviewing skin products this year. Argan Oil happens to be one of them.

What exactly is Argan Oil?

Well, it is made from the kernels of the argan tree (Argania spinosa L.) that origins from Morocco, where it is used as a breakfast bread dip. Each nut from the tree contains one to three argan oil-rich kernels.

Argan Oil contains many natural phenols, such as vanillic acid, tyrosol, caffeic acid, catechol, oleuropein, epicatechin, catechin and rescorinol, as well as fatty acids, carotenes, squalene, phenols and tocopherols (Vitamin E).

As a culinary oil, it has been known to help prevent cardiovascular diseases, obesity and various cancers. As a cosmetic oil, it is used as a moisturizing oil for the skin as well as for the hair. It can help decrease scars from acne and burns.

Yummy Yammy Sweet Potato Salsa Review & Giveaway

Most of my loyal blog readers probably already know that one my favorite snacks is salsa and tortilla chips, so when I had the opportunity to review the Yummy Yammy Sweet Potato Salsas, I eagerly applied and luckily I was one of the few bloggers that were picked to review 3 different flavors - Moroccan Sweet Potato Salsa, Mexican Sweet Potato Salsa and Tuscan Sweet Potato Salsa.

Unlike other salsas that have a red-tomato look, these salsas have an orange color, as the main ingredient is US-grown sweet potatoes and not tomatoes. There are no sugars, fats, preservatives or artificial colors/flavors in the Yummy Yammy Sweet Potato Salsas. Each 12oz jar has only 250 calories.

The Moroccan Sweet Potato Salsa contains flame-roasted sweet potato, lentils, water, lemon juice, kale, garlic, lime juice, curry, salt, cayenne and citrus acid. I'm not a fan of curry, but it doesn't taste bad in this salsa. To me it has a sweet taste with a hint of maple.

Release Day Blitz: The Curse Servant by J.P. Sloan

Whiskey-soused greetings, one and all! My name is J.P. Sloan, and the last two years have been one hell of a ride for yours truly. I signed the first two books of my Dark Choir series with Curiosity Quills in January of 2014. The first book, The Curse Merchant was released in September, and the sequel, The Curse Servant, is set to launch, well… today actually. With celebration, and a modicum of retrospection, I thought I'd roll back the sundial a tidge and cast an eye back to the long slog that lead me here.

I've made mistakes along the path to publication. Lots. I've also had several successes and uplifting moments, but hell… the mistakes are a lot more fun to read about, right? Thus, here are six mistakes I made trying to get my first novel published:

Curiosity Quills Press; Pub. Date: Feb. 26, 2015; ISBN: 9781620078235; Pages 356

1. I THOUGHT I WAS DONE WHEN I FINISHED THE BOOK. Serious rookie error, here. I'd been writing off and on since high school, but never really got serious about sitting down to produce long format fiction until 2002. I decided, "Crap, might as well give this a real go." Everything I understood about writing a novel came from TV and movies. There's this one moment you see all the time… that last page hammered out on a typewriter, the author zips it out, presses it flat against a stack of previous pages, takes a drag of a cigarette or a swig of whiskey, and the book is fait accompli. WRONG! What I had written was a first draft… and it was nowhere near complete. You never see the revision and editing passes in TV shows. When you finish typing, you're nowhere near being done! Write first. Write later.

2. I TRIED TO EDIT AS I WROTE. Another rookie error. And it went something like this: Type paragraph one. Tighten up first sentence. Type paragraph two. Tighten up paragraph one. Reconsider the first sentence. Type paragraph three. Tighten up all previous sentences. Fast-forward three weeks later, and I'm bald from pulling my hair out and cirrhotic from my sudden onset alcoholism. It took a while for me to realize that I have to keep plugging forward and complete the first draft before I'm allowed to do any revising. Editing while drafting is a slippery slope that leads to developmental quagmire. Write first. Revise later.

3. I LISTENED TO TOO MUCH ADVICE. I made the mistake early on in assuming that anyone who expressed an opinion online was an expert. Turns out… not so much. Just because someone has a microphone, that doesn't you should listen. For every three writer's blogs in the 'sphere, you'll get four opinions on how to publish… and it's possible none of them is right for you. That's not to say one should disregard the fundamentals of grammar and the craft of storytelling. I'm just saying… it's really easy to fill your brain with so many contradictory admonitions that it makes it impossible to get the ball moving. Write first. Advise later.

4. I TRIED TO BUILD A PLATFORM BEFORE I ACTUALLY HAD ONE. Among the advice I'd absorbed in heaping fistfuls was the dogma that all aspiring authors must develop their online platform before they query. Whereas it may be true that an agent, editor, or Uncle Rufus who works at Foldybucks Publishing wants to see you've gathered a following before they extend their interest, I found myself getting sucked into a never-

Death Wish Coffee Review

I believe all my blog followers already know that I love a good cup of coffee (or several), so it is probably no surprise that I'm once again reviewing another coffee brand.

This brand is called Death Wish Coffee! The company was founded by Mike Brown, a coffee shop owner, Saratoga Coffee Traders, in Saratoga Springs, NY. His customers kept wanting the strongest coffee and after doing some research he realized there isn't one. Therefore, he set out to make the "world's strongest coffee" -  DEATH WISH COFFEE!

Death Wish Coffee has twice the amount of caffeine than what is found in store bought brands. It has a dark roast blend from high grade coffee beans, which are Fair Trade and USDA Certified Organic! It is available in 1 pound whole bean and ground bags as well as single-serve cups.

PediSoft Callus Remover Review & Giveaway

Having callus on the bottom of your feet can be a bit annoying at times and can cause some discomfort. I go through shoes pretty fast, mostly due to my daily workouts, so I do have callus on my feet. It is even worse during the summertime when I mowing the yard.

Last week, I was sent the PediSoft Callus Remover to review. Yes, it may seem a little odd that a male is wanting to review a product that is pink. Though pink isn't my favorite color, I just ignored that little fact and reviewed the product for what it is - a callus remover.

The Pedicure Callus Remover is a wet/dry hand-held device, similar to an electric razor, with a removable roller. It also comes with an extra roller, a brush, a charging cord and a plastic clear cap. It is recommended to charge it 10 to 12 hours before using it for the first time.

Derma Roller System Review

I wasn't even aware what a derma roller was until I tested one out earlier this year. After I did a little research, I learned that there are different sizes, ranging from 0.5mm to 2.5mm.

What exactly is a derma roller?

Well, it is a small hand-held tool that has roller on end of it. The roller has tiny needles (sometimes called "surgical-grade needles) on it. You use the derma roller to help eliminate scars, stretch marks and cellulite by rolling over an area horizontally, vertically and diagonally! The needles will temporarily open up your pores, which will stimulate collagen and elastin production.

For the the last two weeks, I have been using the Derma Roller System (2.5mm), which has featured on The Rachel Ray Show and The Doctor's Show. This size can be used for cell regeneration, upper derma reborn, deep scar/pores refine treatment, enhanced nutrient adsorption and cellulite & stretch mark treatment.

"A New Me In 2015": New You - Personality Change Review

I can hardly believe that it is nearly two months into 2015 already. It seems like I was just starting my New Year's Resolutions a few days ago. I guess time flies by when you are always busy.

For the past three weeks, I have been trying out the hypnosis program called New You - Personality Change from Hyptalk.com. I know that a few of you might be rolling your eyes at the word hypnosis as you're probably thinking of the hypnotherapy that has been portrayed in comedies where you can snap your fingers and instantly trance someone into doing whatever your order them to do. In reality, hypnotherapy has been successfully used to help people overcome sleeping disorders, phobias, fears, anxieties, depression, stress and grief.

Hyptalk.com, LLC was founded by Victoria Gallagher, who is a member of National Guild of Hypnotists. She is a Certified Master Hypnotherapist, Certified Weight Management Specialist
Certified Neuro Linguistic Programming Practitioner and a Certified HypnoBirthing Practitioner.

The New You - Personality Change is 25-minute hypnosis program that is meant to help unleash the your true inner self. Victoria starts out with a short induction to help you relax before guiding you to the steps that will help improve your personality. You need to imagine what personality traits you want to change about yourself. This can include your appearance, social abilities, expressions and attitude. If you can expand who you are, then you can be a happier person.

Monday Morning Madness #52: Dumb & Dumber Sequel is Dumb!

I'm sick and tired of this cold winter weather. No joking, I'm literally sick with a head cold! I can't wait for spring to finally show up, though I dread having allergies. With me being under the weather, the weekend was an absolute bore. However, I did get caught up on a few DVDs that I needed to watch. I have two of the reviews written and posted already. Hopefully, I can get the third review published later today.

Has anybody seen Dumb and Dumber To? I purchased the DVD (it was cheaper than the Blu-ray) and watched it last Thursday. I watched the original 1994 film repeatedly during my teenage years and I'm one of the few that actually liked the 2003 prequel Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd. Despite reading many bad reviews, I was eagerly looking forward to the sequel. Let me just say that the Farrelly brothers tried a bit too hard, resulting in a half-way funny & uneven comedy. Don't get me wrong, Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels did a good job reprising their roles and I thought Rachel Melvin was adorable as Penny, but the plot and the jokes could have been better written.

Another Jim Carrey film that I did enjoy was 2004's Lemony Snicket's A Series Of Unfortunate Events, which is based on the same children book series by Daniel Handler. The movie was based on the first three books of the series and I thought it was a pretty good movie. Too bad the rest of the books were never adapted. It was announced back in November that Netflix is going to produce a series based on the books. This is great news, but I don't have a subscription to Netflix and I don't plan on ever getting

As an added bonus there are three additional episodes - The Amulet of Avalor, Princess Butterfly and The Emerald Key. Plus, it comes with a Free Color-Changing Necklace.

Sofia the First has been a big hit on Disney Junior ever since it debuted in 2013 (the pilot aired in the latter half of 2012). The series follows an eight-year-old named Sofia (voiced by Ariel Winter), whom becomes a princess when her mother marries King Roland II. She also becomes the step-sister to Princess Amber (voiced by Darcy Rose Byrnes) and Prince James (voiced by Zach Callison). The King gives her the mystical Amulet of Avalor, which gives her the ability to communicate with animals and lets her summon other Disney Princesses when needed.

The Curse of Princess Ivy marks the third television- movie (about 45 minutes) and centers on Princess Amber learning about Sofia's amulet. When Prince Amber steals the amulet, it unleashes a curse that summons the evil Princess Ivy (voiced by Anna Camp), who plans on taking the crown and turning the entire kingdom black-and-white! Princess Sofia and Princess Amber must team up with Tangled's Rapunzel (voiced by Mandy Moore) to retrieve the amulet and stop Princess Ivy.

The Amulet of Avalor (episode 14) finds the thief Cedric stealing the amulet and Princess Sofia is on the hunt to retrieve it. Princess Butterfly (episode 19) centers on Princess Amber asking Cedric to magically make her a butterfly costume for the All Hallows Eve costume ball, but the costume will not come off and it is up to Princess Sofia to save the day. An Emerald key from the kingdom of Hakalo washes up near the castle in The Emerald Key (episode 38) and it is up to Sofia to find the key's true owner.

MultiFlex Excel Review

Exercising on a regular basis is an extremely important for staying in shape, but it isn't easy if you keep injuring yourself. This is what has happened to me repeatedly over the years. Either my knees, lower back, neck or shoulders start bothering me, which leads me to quit my workouts.

This year my neck, shoulder and lower back have been hurting after my workouts, resulting in me taking one or two day breaks in my workouts. In the past, I have taken Backaid Max, but it only numbs the pain for a few hours.

When I heard the MultFlex Excel, a fast-acting natural joint supplement for acute pain, I thought it's too good to be true as I have already tried about anything and everything for my joint problems.

The supplement contains a 650mg Proprietary Blend consisting of:

White Willow (bark) Salix Alba
Turmeric (root) Curcuma Longa
Boswellia (resin) Boswellia Serrata

DSpeed Fat-Melt Vitamin D3

Vitamin D is very important for your body as it promotes normal levels of calcium and phosphorus, which is mostly found in eggs, fish, cod liver oil and whole milk. There are five forms of Vitamin D: D1, D2 (ergocalciferol), D3 (cholecalciferol), D4, and D5. Vitamin D2 is found in plants and Vitamin D3 is found in sunlight.

Due to the risk of skin cancer, not everyone wants to be in the sunlight for very long. Luckily, there are Vitamin D3 supplements on the market for us to take, including the DSpeed Fat-Melt Vitamin D3.

DSpeed is a sugar-free peach flavored fast-melting table. It contains 1000 IU of Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) from lanolin in each tablet. It is meant to help bone & teeth formation and to help support immune & cellular heath. It has a three star Superior Taste Award by The International Taste & Quality Institute (iTQi) in Belgium.
