Growing up, goody-two-shoes Kirra Jacobs and troublemaker Reef McKenna were always at odds. Now paired together on Yancey’s search-and-rescue canine unit, they begin to put aside old arguments as they come to see each other in a different light.

Then a call comes in from the Iditarod that will push them to their limits. Kirra’s uncle, a musher in the race, has disappeared. Kirra and Reef quickly track the man, but what they discover is harrowing. Frank’s daughter has been kidnapped. In order to save her, the man must use his knowledge as a mechanical engineer to do the kidnapper’s bidding or she will die.

Kirra and Reef, along with the entire McKenna family, are thrown into a race to stop a shadowy villain who is not only threatening a girl’s life, but appears willing to unleash one of the largest disasters Alaska has ever seen.

Review:

I've been a fan of author Dani Pettrey ever since I read the first book (Submerged) in the Alaskan Courage Series back in 2012. All though there is a bit of romance in each installment, the plots mostly consists of mystery and adventure, all of which involves the McKenna siblings.

Book five, Sabotaged, centers on Reef McKenna teaming up with Kirra Jacobs as part of the "Search and Rescue" for the Iditarod Race. When Kirra's uncle doesn't show up at the check point, they go out to investigate and discover that Kirra's cousin has been kidnapped!

I'm not going to go into any more details as I don't want to give away too many spoilers for others readers. I have always liked Reef from the previous book, Silenced, so I was eagerly looking forward to reading this installment and I wasn't disappointed. The author does a remarkable building a suspenseful plot with twists and turns around every corner. Overall, Sabotaged is a fact-paced page-turner from start to finish that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. Hopefully, the author will return to these characters in the near future.
