Review:

Arriving on DVD and two-disc Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack from Shout! Factor and exclusively sold at Walmart stores on Tuesday September 30th is the animated film, Thunder and the House of Magic. Bonus Features include Origins, Character Animation, The Making Of the Soundtrack, Teaser and Trailer.

From directors Ben Assent (Fly Me to the Moon, Sammy's Adventures: Escape from Paradise) and Jeremy Degruson (A Turtle's Tale: Sammy's Adventure) comes this charming fantasy adventure about an abandoned cat, Thunder (voiced by Murray Blue), who sneaks into a old mansion that is owned by Lawrence (voiced by Doug Stone), a retired magician. The mansion has a little magic of its own, as an army of automatons and gizmos have come to life.

Thunder believes this is the perfect home for him and introduces himself to Lawrence, whom takes an instant liking to him, but Lawrence's other pets, Jack the Rabbit (voiced by George Babbit) and Maggie the Mouse (voiced by Shanelle Gray) doesn't like Thunder.

After an accident occurs, Lawrence finds himself in the hospital and agrees to gives "Power of Attorney" to his greedy nephew Daniel (voiced by Grant George), who plans on selling the mansion for a hefty price. It is up to Thunder, Jack, Maggie and all the magical objects in the house to stop him from taking their home.

There has been a recent surge of direct-to-DVD animated films that were made cheaply in Europe. Thunder and the House of Magic is one of these films, but with a slight twist - the computer animation actually looks great. Don't be me wrong, it is no Pixar film, but compared to similar releases it is topnotch. Yes, the plot is cliched, but with all the quirky characters, the film’s flaws are easily forgotten. Overall, Thunder and the House of Magic was a delight to watch, somewhat reminding me of The Brave Little Toaster. I highly recommend this cute family-friendly film.
