The superhero genre has been a dominant force in the comic book industry for decades. While superhero comics can be entertaining and thought-provoking, they can also be quite formulaic. Many superhero comics feature the same basic elements: a white, male protagonist with superpowers who battles evil villains.

It's after three o'clock in the afternoon, and I've just started writing this post. Why the lateness? I know this is a broken record, but here it is: I've been sick with a nasty cold for most of the week. My body is having difficulty shaking this thing off. Either I keep catching a cold, or I have the new variant. I tossed and turned last night, and the constant coughing didn't help. I attempted to sleep in a recliner, but that didn't pan out well. So, I didn't get any sleep until this morning and throughout the early afternoon.
