Breaking the Superhero Stereotype in Comic Creation

The superhero genre has been a dominant force in the comic book industry for decades. While superhero comics can be entertaining and thought-provoking, they can also be quite formulaic. Many superhero comics feature the same basic elements: a white, male protagonist with superpowers who battles evil villains.

  • Happy Halloween!

What Am I Currently Reading?

By the time this post is published, I should've finished Tom Clancy's Weapons Grade. Today, I should probably begin After Midnight by Karin Slaughter next, but The Secret—the new Jack Reacher thriller—is calling my name.

  • On Friday, the dryer decided to quit yet again. I ordered some cheap parts from Amazon, which arrived late yesterday. The good news is that the dryer has power and heats up. The bad news is that it isn't cycling correctly, so I'll work on that this morning.

Vault Comics' Kickstarter for Slash presents DEATHSTALKER

Wasn't the 1980s a great decade? DEATHSTALKER, our (completely immoral) hero warrior, made his film debut during that height of so-bad-it-good fantasy filmmaking.

DEATHSTALKER erupts from the minds of an all-star lineup of creators, including Slash (Guns N' Roses), writer-director-creature-FX-wizard Steven Kostanski (Psycho Goreman, The Void), NY Times bestselling writer Tim Seeley (Nightwing, Hack/Slash), and critically acclaimed artist Jim Terry (Heavy Metal, West of Sundown), in a rip-roaring swords and sorcery adventure presented in gorgeous graphic novel format and featuring brand new art from legendary fantasy artists Boris Vallejo and Nathan Gooden!

  • It's after three o'clock in the afternoon, and I've just started writing this post. Why the lateness? I know this is a broken record, but here it is: I've been sick with a nasty cold for most of the week. My body is having difficulty shaking this thing off. Either I keep catching a cold, or I have the new variant. I tossed and turned last night, and the constant coughing didn't help. I attempted to sleep in a recliner, but that didn't pan out well. So, I didn't get any sleep until this morning and throughout the early afternoon.
