[Blu-ray Review] - Come Play (2020)

Arriving today on Blu-ray and DVD from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment is creepy PG-13 thriller COME PLAY from director/writer Jacob Chase. It's based on the director's short film LARRY (2017). Produced by Amblin Partners, The Picture Company, and Reliance Entertainment, and distributed by Focus Features, the film was scheduled to be released theatrically on July 24, 2020, but was rescheduled to October 30, 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. During its worldwide run in theaters, it managed to bring in over $12 million on a $9 million budget. Yeah, that amount might not sound like much, but considering the world we currently live in, the movie did pretty decent against low odds.

[Review] - Weeks: Book Two by Jasyn T. Turley

Available on Kindle!

Last week, I finished reading Weeks: Book 2, a post-apocalyptic novel by author Jasyn T. Turley that's been in my possession since October 2020. Yeah, I know I need to work on my procrastination issues. Nevertheless, here I am reviewing it today.

Sunday Post - The House of Vesper Sands, The Massacre of Mankind, and Rebecca

Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer!

Good Morning, Everyone!

1-16-21 - Many of you might be wondering where I've been for the past few weeks. The truth be told is that I've been depressed on and off since Christmas. There were several days where I couldn't get even get out of bed. I'm trying my best to deal with my problems, so I don't want anyone to worry about me.

Writing reviews/posts has become a pain-in-neck for me. I can stare at a blank screen for hours without writing one single word. Even this post has taken me almost a week to complete. Writer's block? Maybe. Though I'm guessing it has something to do with my depression. I'm going to do my best to get past this somehow.

Sunday's goal is to review Weeks: Books 2 by Jasyn T. Turley. It's my second read for 2021. There are six or seven Christian romances that I need to write reviews for this month. I read these during the Fall, but I never got around to reviewing them. Shockingly, I jotted down notes for these titles, which is a rare occurrence for me. (Note: Knowing me, I'll probably end up rereading these books.)

Update 1-18-21 - I was sick yesterday afternoon, so I didn't write the review for Weeks: Book 2. I'll be working on it this morning.

Update 1-20-21 - I finally finished the review of Weeks: Book 2. You can read the review here

[Blu-ray Review] - Love and Monsters (2020)

I spent the early Tuesday morning hours watching the science-fiction romance Love and Monsters (PG-13; 108 minutes), which landed on Blu-ray last week from Paramount Home Entertainment. The film had a wide theatrical release set for February 2021, but because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the studio released it to video on demand and select theaters in October 2020. It received a "Certified Fresh" from Rotten Tomatoes.

[Review] - The Hush Sisters by Gerard Collins

Sissy and Ava Hush are estranged, middle-aged sisters with little in common beyond their upbringing in a peculiar manor in downtown St. John’s. With both parents now dead, the siblings must decide what to do with the old house they’ve inherited. Despite their individual loneliness, neither is willing to change or cede to the other’s intentions. As the sisters discover the house’s dark secrets, the spirits of the past awaken, and strange events envelop them. The Hush sisters must either face these sinister forces together or be forever ripped apart.
