[Review] - Weeks: Book Two by Jasyn T. Turley

Available on Kindle!

Last week, I finished reading Weeks: Book 2, a post-apocalyptic novel by author Jasyn T. Turley that's been in my possession since October 2020. Yeah, I know I need to work on my procrastination issues. Nevertheless, here I am reviewing it today.

Weeks: Book 2 is a sequel to Weeks: Book 1, which I reviewed on this blog in February 2020. (Read the review here.) Sometime around 2017, a nuclear apocalypse killed off most of humanity. The first novel took place ten years after this event and followed three survivors, Phil, Tim, and Dakota, traveling across the country. Surviving such a journey isn't easy because they have to battle hordes of zombies and government-created monsters.

Warning Spoiler Alert - The heroic trio live through Weeks: Book One and found refuge in the country of Alyeska. In Weeks: Book Two, Phil, Tim, and Dakota are now members of the Alyeskan Special Operations, operating under the call-sign SRT-Alpha. They are assigned a mission that puts them smack dab in the middle of harm's way, loaded with zombies and monsters.

Final Thoughts

Weeks: Book 2 isn't your run of the mill zombie story. It's less horror and more of a military action drama that happens to have zombies in it. And, that's not a bad thing. The zombie sub-genre has been done to death in recent years, many thanks to The Walking Dead, so it's nice to see some new twists, which there are plenty in this book. (FYI: Good or bad, I'm a Walking Dead fan.)

Overall, Weeks: Book Two is a well-written and fast-paced sequel that doesn't disappoint. It's a cross between Strike Back, Resident Evil, and The Walking Dead, so if you like those franchises, then you're going to love Weeks: Book Two.
