The Caffeinated Book Reviewer's Kimberly hosts a weekly meme called "The Sunday Post"! |
Weekly Tidbits
- I'm not sure whether other book lovers experience this, but I become quite frustrated when I can't locate a single book in a series. I dug through bookcases and closets for my Annie Rice novels after viewing the first part of the second episode of AMC's Interview with the Vampire, and for some strange reason, I don't own the tenth book, Blood Canticle. I thought I had a copy, but evidently not since I checked through my books twice and couldn't find it.
- There will be yet another extensive book purge. If I want to have the room to arrange my books by authors and genres, I have to be really generous and let go of books that I'll never read again. I used the boxes I already had in the garage and got some free small boxes from Dollar General; by free, I mean an employee handed me flat boxes she was about to throw away.
- I've made a list of the Dean Koontz books I still need to get.
- On Thursday, I had an influenza vaccination and the second Moderna Booster. This time there were no adverse effects, but the injections left my left arm a little uncomfortable.
- The movie Halloween Ends, which I've already seen twice on Peacock, was fantastic, contrary to the opinions of most horror lovers. I was going to write a review of it on Saturday night, but my review is evolving into more of an article. Therefore, as soon as I'm done writing it, it will be published as a "Midnight Horror" piece.

Thrifting Finds
More Thrifting
On my second excursion to the thrift store, I purchased five Gothic romances by Virginia Coffman: Curse of the Island Pool, Night at Sea Abbey, The Chinese Door, The House on the Moat, The Vicar of Moura, The Stalking Terror, The Vampyre of Moura, Moura, and The High Terrace.
Antiquing & Bargain Hunting
I went to a freight surplus store, but I can't for the life of me recall its name. I assumed it was an office supply warehouse for some reason, but I was obviously mistaken. It's more of an odds-and-ends shop. To my amazement, I discovered two "Gray Man" books by Mark Greaney, Ballistic and On Target, both priced at $2.49, as well as the C.J. Box book, Force of Nature, also priced at $2.49.
Glad to hear you enjoyed Halloween Ends. I'll watch it, but probably not until after it comes out on Blu-Ray. I'll snag it from Redbox.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good time for Gothic reads, with Halloween coming up.
ReplyDeleteI've gone crazy looking for books within my collection as well! It can be a harrowing task for a book lover to try to track down a particular book that we may or may not have!
ReplyDeleteWow! Lots of amazing new reads here! All totally new to me ones but I am liking the looks of these Gothic books! From the titles they sound rather intriguing! I hope you enjoy them all!

Good to hear that Halloween Ends was good! I didn't love Halloween Kills, but I'm still going to watch the new one on Peacock this month. 🎃
ReplyDeleteGlad the shots weren't too bad...
ReplyDeleteHalocene rocks. And ooh I was curious about that Star Wars book when it came out.
Those thrift finds are amazing. Such evocative titles- night at sea Abbey??? I would love to find a bunch of those and have em on my shelf! Also Beyond Star Trek looks like a good one.
I feel like I need to do an unhaul soon, as well.
ReplyDeleteStill need to get my influenza vaccine when it rolls out here; I recently got my COVID19 bivalent vaccine as well. Same as you, just my arm gets a little bit sore from the vaccine. But sometimes I feel a little malaise, too.
I hope you enjoy your current reads!
I'm glad to hear you enjoyed Halloween Ends. My husband and I are going to see it tomorrow in the theater. I'm really excited about it. Sorry to hear about your book woes of not owning one of the Anne Rice novels. I have the same woes. I hope you have a great week!
