  Billy's Answer

I always get a little upset when an author kills off a likeable character for no reason at all. I can understand that a character's death will add an intriguing plot twist to the story, but killing a character for "shock" is just plain wrong.

  1. Yeah, I don't like that either. I guess I can say that "luckily" the character deaths I had to endure were necessary. Well, some of the Harry Potter ones in the last book are questionable...

    1. I don't know what the authors are thinking about when they kill off characters for no good reason. I have the same thoughts with TV series.

As for the Harry Potter books, way too many characters were axed off in the last few books. However, JK Rowling did create those characters, so she has the right to do whatever she wants with them.

  2. Oh agreed. That's just rude. Thankfully have only had it happen a couple of times like that.

  3. I have the exact same peeve you do, Billy! Plus a couple of others. But this one tops my list!! And yes, I've referred to the HP series in my post, too. I'm mad at Rowling because of Book 6 -- "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince". I could not finish this book because of a beloved character's demise in the middle of the book.....I cried and cried and cried.... :( And it took me ENTIRELY by surprise, too!!

I know these authors have the right to do whatever they want with the characters they've created, but I do think they should have some compassion for us fans. Lol.

Anyway, thanks for sharing!! Hope you're having a nice Sunday evening!! <3 :)

  4. Yes I agree this annoying, characters only need to die if brings something to the story.

  5. Agree, if it isn't integral to the plot of the story, why kill them off?
