Review:

Yes, it is that time of year when cable channels will be overruled with made-for-TV Christmas movies and holiday specials. And of course there will be a few new direct-to-DVD titles as well, including the computer-animated film Frozen in Time, which will arrive on DVD Tuesday November 11, 2014.

Produced by Kickstart Productions, Frozen in Time centers on Eric (voiced by Valin Shinyel) and Patty (voiced by Alyssya Swales), a brother and sister who are both dreading the fact that they are practically being dragged by their parents, along with their older brother, to spend Christmas with their nutty inventor grandfather (voiced by Ed Asner). It seems everything they say or do goes terribly wrong at their grandfather's place. They even accidentally break a strange looking clock in his work shed.

In the vein of Groundhog Day, Eric and Patty wake up the next morning only to discover that they are in their own beds as they are repeating the same day over and over again. Like any kid would do in their position, the kids break all the rules and have fun, but eventually they get bored and try to figure out how to get time working again.

Similar to Kickstart's Under Wraps, Frozen in Time is only 46 minutes, but don't let the time fool you as there is plenty of action and fun in this animated holiday adventure. Yes, the Groundhog Day plot has been done to death in Christmas films, but it works well here. The plot is also a great way to teach kids morals and what the true meaning of Christmas is about. While the animation is no Pixar, it was pretty decent compared other other low-budget direct-to-DVD cartoons. Overall, Frozen in Time is an adorable Christmas film that the whole family will enjoy watching together this holiday season.
