Review:

Arriving today on DVD is Nashville: The Complete Second Season, featuring all 22 episodes. Bonus Features include: Nashville: On The Record Music Special, bloopers and deleted scenes.

Season 2 picks up directly after the cliffhanger-ending of Season 1. Rayna Jaymes (played by Connie Britton) is left in a medically induced coma after being in the car accident with Deacon Clayborne (played by Charles Esten), who takes the blame for being behind the wheel.

Meanwhile, Scarlett O'Connor (played by Clare Bowen) rejects Gunnar Scott's (played by Sam Palladio) proposal and moves out of their apartment. She moves in with her childhood best-friend, Zoey Dalton (played by Chaley Rose), who recently moved to Nashville and later starts dating Gunnar.

Upcoming country-singer, Will Lexington (played by Chris Carmack), becomes Gunnar's new roommate. Though Will is gay, he begins a relationship with Layla Grant (played by Aubrey Peeples) to help his reputation.

Still grieving over her mother's death, Juliette Barnes (played by Hayden Panettiere) becomes obsessed with changing her image from teen singer to a serious adult country-singer, which doesn't go well with Edgehill's new CEO, Jeff Fordham (played by Oliver Hudson).

The episodes on the five-disc set are:

Disc 1
I Fall To Pieces
Never No More
I Don't Want To Talk About It Now
You're No Angel Yourself
Don't Open That Door

Disc 2
It Must Be You
She's Got You
Hanky Panky Woman
I'm Tired Of Pretending
Tomorrow Never Comes

Disc 3
I'll Keep Climbling
Just For What I Am
I'ts All Wrong, But It's All Right
Too Far Gone

Disc 4
They Don't Make 'Em Like My Daddy Anymore
Guilty Street
We've Got Things To Do
Your Wild Life's Gonna Get You Down

Disc 5
Crazy
Your Good Girl's Gonna Go Bad
All Or Nothing With Me
On The Other Hand

The problem I had with the first season was the unneeded political junk, but I'm glad to see almost all of it was removed from season two, though I do wish the producers would get rid of Teddy Conrad (played by Eric Close). The series should be about country music not politics. The second season is an improvement over the first season with the addition of two new characters, Zoey and Layla, whom both happens to be singers. The songs sung throughout the season are catchy and help tie-in with what the characters are going through, especially the songs sung by Scarlett O'Connor. Still the standout character is Juliette Barnes (played by Hayden Panettiere), though I do question her actions towards the end of the season. Overall, Nashville: The Complete Second Season has plenty of drama, backstabbing and great music to entertain most viewers. The third season will premiere tomorrow night on ABC.
