Billy's Review:

2010's Despicable Me brought in over five-hundred-million dollars at the box-office, which means there would eventually be a sequel. That is sequel was titled Despicable Me 2 and it grossed a billion dollars worldwide over the summer. The sequel is being released on December 10th on Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital Copy, just in time for Christmas. Universal Studios sent me an advanced reviewer's copy last month in exchange for my honest review.

Steve Carell returns as the former villain turned father, Felonious Gru, along with Miranda Cosgrove, Elsie Fisher and Dana Gaier as Gru's adopted daughters, Margo, Agnes and Edith. Combo Pack exclusives are 3 New Minions Mini-Movies, Making of the Mini-Movies, Deleted Scenes, The Minions, Evil Minions, A Gru-some Transformation, and El Hombre Malo: The Villainy of El Macho.

Gru is forced to come out of retirement in Despicable Me 2 when the Anti-Villain League asks him to investigate who stole an entire laboratory that was hidden in the Arctic Circle. Inside the lab was the PX-41, a powerful mutagen that can make any living organisms into deadly, unstoppable monsters. Since Gru is an ex-villain, he is the perfect person for the job. His assistant, Dr. Nefario, misses being evil and leaves, taking a job somewhere else. Gru has no other choice, but to take on a new partner, an undercover AVL agent Lucy Wilde (voiced by Kristen Wig). He suspected the villain might be Eduardo Perez, an owner of a Mexican restaurant, as the man resembles the presumably dead super-villain, "El Macho."

Meanwhile, Margo, Agnes and Edith are desperate to help Gru find a wife and they sign him up on a dating site. Gru isn't exactly the best catch for any woman and the girls must go to drastic measures to find him a suitable wife, who would also make them a great mother. Then they meet Lucy, whom Gus tells them their relationship is strictly professional, but the girls think otherwise.

As Gru and Lucy get closer to unveiling the villain's identity, the minions are kidnapped by a mad doctor who plans on using the PX-41 on them.

Despicable Me was a rare computer-animated movie that was made for both children and adults. I'm glad to say that Despicable Me 2 follows the same platform, as there are plenty of fun moments for kids and plenty of humor and adventure for adults. Once again the short yellow minions steal every scene they are in. I especially enjoyed the credits with the three minions auditioning for the Minions movie. Despicable Me 2 is 10x better than the original (which I also liked too) with a talented voice cast, a great script and outstanding animation. Despicable Me 2 is the best computer-animated movie of 2013!
