Review:

The Power Rangers franchise just turned twenty-years-old a few months ago and Lionsgate is releasing a holiday DVD release today titled Power Rangers Super Samurai: A Christmas Wish featuring the episode "Stuck On Christmas," along with the classic Mighty Morphin Power Rangers episode "Forever Friends" and "Alpha's Magical Christmas." Also included is the special feature "Mega Bloks Holiday Toymation."

"Stuck On Christmas" finds the Samurai Rangers battling a terrifying Nighlok named GRED, but during the battle the Megazord malfunctions and they are trapped inside it for Christmas, which they were suppose to spend with their Mentor Ji. The episode includes  flashbacks to previous episodes.

"Forever Friends" originally aired in November 1994 during the second season of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Kimberly and Aisha's best friend Shawna is kidnapped by Goldar, but before the Rangers can rescue her, Lord Zed sends his newest creature, Jaws of Destruction, to destroy them.

"Alpha's Magical Christmas" was released direct-to-video in October 1994. With the Rangers gone, Alpha 5 is trying to stay in the Christmas spirit by decorating the Command Center and singing carols with children. The special ignores the series' continuity, especially with Zordon allowing children in the Command Center and the cameo by the Green Ranger. Plus, the characters Rocky, Adam and Aisha appear as Rangers, despite the fact they don't officially become Rangers in the series until a month later!

With the cute holiday cover, I can see the Power Rangers Super Samurai: A Christmas Wish being popular with young kids, which would make a decent stocking stuffer for Christmas. "Alpha's Magical Christmas" is a silly special, but younger children might enjoy the songs. "Forever Friends" is a mild episode of the classic series, while "Stuck of Christmas" is an average episode at best. Overall, I did like watching the DVD, but I only wish there were a few more bonus episodes from the other seasons/series.
