Guest Blog Host: Soon Remembered Tales
Question of the week: With Autumn upon us and Halloween drawing near, what books remind you of fall? What ones do you enjoy reading that are about autumn?

My Answer:  I would have to say it would be the books titled "Halloween Party," "Halloween Night," and "Halloween Night II," all written by R. L. Stine.

Review:

Set in Detroit in 1959, sixteen-year-old Alex Houseman is still dealing with the fact that his mother left his father for another man and took his young brother, Howard, with her. Since his parents divorce, his father has been working the night shift at the local Chevy Plant and has become an alcoholic. Alex has been getting in all sorts of trouble. Most recently he has started skipping school and he just stolen his fourteenth car. He gets caught and is sent to a juvenile detention center.

The Car Thief was originally published back in 1972 and was re-released earlier this year. I received a free ARC of the book several months, but the book got shoved around and I just finish reading it today. The book started out slow for me, despite the fact that it is beautifully written, but eventually the story grabbed a hold of me. I kept thinking about how Alex reminded me of myself when I was that age. I didn't get arrested or thrown into a detention center, but I felt lost and confused as Alex was.

DVD Review - Saved By The Bell: Season Five

Saved By The Bell: Season Five
Starring: : Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Mario Lopez, Dustin Diamond, Lark Voorhies, Elizabeth Berkley, Tiffani-Amber Thiessen
Studio: Lionsgate
ASIN: B0009KQP96
Release Date: July 19, 2005
Running Time: 550 minutes

Yes, I was one of those kids that would run home everyday after school so I could watch the reruns of Saved By The Bell. One channel aired back-to-back episodes and at the same time another channel would air one episode. All my classmates watched the series and even my parents would watch on Saturday mornings.

After the series had filmed its last episode in which the characters had their high school graduation, NBC ordered more episodes. Actresses Tiffani-Amber Thiessen (Kelly Kapowski) and Elizabeth Berkley (Jessie Spano) had already moved on to film projects are were not available to participate in new episodes. Therefore a new character was created - Tori Scott (played by Leanna Creel).

Just like the two previous DVD sets, the episodes are out of order, going more by the syndication order. That's why the characters look older in one episode and a lot younger in the next. A few episodes have Jesse and Slater as a couple, but they broke up during season four!

The new student Tori becomes Zack's girlfriend and befriends Screech, Slater, and Lisa, but for some reason she never meets Kelly or Jesse. As I stated above the actresses who played the parts didn't return, but there names could have been mentioned more often. Continuity errors? Or were the characters Jesse and Kelly doing something else when Tori was around? After almost twenty years it is still a mystery to me.

An online business can't expect to receive the same results from only printed advertising. To have a successful online business you must have your website/blog to show up on the first page of a search engine. Sure you can submit your URL to specific search engines, but you are not guaranteed to be on the first page.

Review:

I've always been interested in the RMS Titanic every since I watched the Robert Ballad special in the 1980s. My parents bought me every book that came out on the ship. I lost interest in it when the bloated and overrated 1997 Titanic came out to theaters. This year marked the 100th anniversary since the Titanic sunk and many books have been released about the famous ship. I bought a few of the fiction books that came out earlier this year, but I haven't had time read them yet. When I saw that Queen of the Waves was available to review through Litfuse Publicity Group, I eagerly signed up for it.

Queen of Waves is part of the An American Tapestry series and involves a spoiled rich young woman, Jacqueline Abingdon, who is in love with her family's gardener, Peter Bowen, but her father wants her to marry the wealthy Roland Palmer. Jacqueline makes plans to runaway and to marry Peter. She is supposed to be on the maiden voyage of the RMS Titanic, but she gives her ticket to a poor English girl, Tessa Bowen. Tessa will take her identity on the ship while Peter and she can exchange their vows and start their life together without her father ever knowing.

Review:

The year is 1842 and the Waldron family is on the Oregon Trail trying to reach Willamette Valley before winter arrives. Mr. Waldron tells his family that the Willamette Valley is the Land of Milk and honey, and that he would build them a home of their dreams. They barely escaped the fall's deadly thunderstorms and the wrath of the wild animals, but they might die of hunger and thirst before arriving at their destination.

The book focuses mostly on the daughter Samantha Waldron, who is extremely close to her little brother, Micah. When the family tries to cross the Columbia River, a violent storm erupts above them causing the river to become out of control. Samantha and Micah are saved by Lord Alexander Clarke and brings them to Fort Vancouver. Micah is just fine and plays with the other children living at the Fort, but Samantha takes several days to recover. The only thing Samantha has left is her little brother Micah.

Alexander helps Samantha by giving her a job as the school teacher. There are many single soldiers stationed there and Alexander makes sure none of the men make an uncalled advanced toward Samantha, whose heart now belongs to him anyway. Just as the two start to become close, a ship from England arrives to take Alexander back home.

Suddenly, Micah goes missing. Who will help Samantha find her little brother?
