Book Blogger Hop: How Many Public Libraries Are in Your Area?

Welcome to the Book Blogger Hop!

This Week's Prompt:

How many public libraries are in your area? Are they easy to get to?
╍Submitted by Elizabeth, Silver's Reviews

My Answer:

In my little town, there’s a single public library. I pop in from time to time, drawn by the promise of free books. The air is thick with the scent of aged paper and quiet secrets; each visit is a delightful escape into the unknown. I know where the libraries are in the nearby towns—like old ghosts haunting my periphery—but for reasons I can’t quite explain, they remain unexplored territories.

  1. It's always good to have a library near by. I remember growing up frequenting 2-3 different branches that were nearby. As I got older and needed books for studying purposes I traveled to other ones when they said to have a certain book available.

    1. Years ago, I dipped my toes into the world of children’s short stories—some even graced the pages of long-gone ezines, earning a brief spotlight in the ezine universe. I dabbled in the realms of romance with a short story and flirted with the macabre, crafting a horror tale that found its way into indie anthologies. Then I got distracted and turned my focus to blogging, effectively setting my fiction dreams aside to gather dust. I often catch myself daydreaming about writing a novel—perhaps I will, perhaps I won't. It's a game of "What if?" The real snag, however, is that I'm trapped in a plotless purgatory. Sure, I've scribbled down ideas, but deep down, I wonder: are they worthy of blossoming into full-fledged tales, or just fruitless musings best left in the margins of my notebook? But who knows? Maybe one day I’ll conjure up something so spine-tingling or heart-fluttering that it demands to be unleashed upon the world. Until then, I’ll keep pondering in the shadows, waiting for inspiration to hit.

  3. Your description is beautiful. There’s something magical about having one small, familiar branch that feels like a secret haven.Sometimes one cozy little library is all we need.

    1. I prefer to know where everything is in the library — so I can go straight to the free shelves, the books for sale shelves, and the new loans section.

  4. I'm so lucky with libraries - the local one is literally 20 doors down the road from me - and there's a branch in nearly every nearby town, plus the main county one is about 15 miles away. It's one of my favourite things about living where I live!
