Billy's Answer:

Yep! The YA market has changed quite a bit since my childhood. I can't help but glance at the YA section at Walmart because it takes up 50% of the area, and the irony is these books are always there. I never see anyone looking at them, let alone putting them in their shopping carts. Most of them are romantic fantasies, or at least the ones I had glanced at were. No, I don't feel out of touch. Those books don't appeal to me; therefore, I will never read them.

  1. I still enjoy reading YA myself mainly because I can find the genres I like within it! It's funny because as an actual teen they never had any paranormal or fantasy reads. It was all contemporary and it drove me nuts! I feel like I missed my calling sometimes with that, although paranormal YA did make a big come back in the 2010s which was nice too!

    1. I have some middle-grade/YA horror around here, and I plan on reading sometime, but the new YA fantasy I've been seeing in stores doesn't appeal to me.
