{Sunday Post} — Old Western Gems!

What Am I Reading?

It's that time again—another late-night scramble for my Sunday Post! To be honest, I had every intention of posting earlier this week, but life threw me a curveball, and here I am, squeezing it in at the last possible moment.

Last week was a whirlwind. I didn’t even get around to starting a new book until Friday night! But I'm thrilled to dive into Robin Cook's Bellevue. This medical drama has a fascinating Gothic vibe that keeps me on my toes. As of page 203, I'm hooked! I expect to wrap it up by Wednesday, which will pave the way for my next read: Mark Greaney's Midnight Black.

Song of the Week

What's New on the Bookshelf?

With all the chaos last week, my thrifting adventures were limited. The only time I squeezed in a little treasure hunting was during two garage sales on Friday. It just so happened to be our town's 'City Wide Garage Sale!' I only had time for two stops—one at a church basement sale that was mostly filled with forgotten odds and ends and another outside town. That second sale is where I struck gold, spending just $1.50 on a delightful stash of old Western paperbacks. I picked up titles Longarm on the Devil's Trail, Longarm and the Ghost Dancers, Longarm and the Mad Dog Killer, Longarm and the Blue-Eyed Squaw, Longarm and the Redhead's Ransom, Longarm and the Comancheros, Longarm and the SheepherdersHanging Justice by Jake Logan, and The Santa Fe Trail by Ralph Compton.

Speaking of Longarm, those books were crafted under the pseudonym Tabor Evans, which actually represents a group of authors. The series kicked off with Lou Cameron in the 1970s for Jove Books, and he was instrumental in creating the iconic character and penning many of the early stories. The first book was released in 1978, and over the years, a fantastic lineup of writers like Melvin Marshall, Will C. Knott, and Chet Cunningham added their unique flair to the series. I'm excited to explore these old gems!
