What Am I Reading? 

What can I say? It was a hectic week, and I didn't have time to read until Thanksgiving night. Friday was also a jam-packed day. Then, I crashed and burned for most of Saturday, though I did watch Survivor Series: War Games on Peacock. 

So, what am I reading? It's the same book I mentioned last week, Chasing the Boogeyman by Richard Chizmar, a fictionalized true-crime yarn. I'm on page 247, and Goodreads says I've read 57%, which is wrong; my eyes tell me I'm 3/4 through the book.

What's in the Mailbox?

I usually receive an ARC of each new ghostwritten V.C. Andrews novel, but not with Dreaming of Autumn Skies, published by Gallery Books back in October. I sent two requests for a review copy but received no replies. It may or may not have something to do with the little bitty fact that I've been somewhat harsh with Andrew Neiderman's recent works. (FYI: Andrew Neiderman has been the only ghostwriter since V.C. Andrews died in 1986.) Well, I ended up ordering Dreaming of Autumn Skies off of Amazon. I don't expect to get to it until after the holidays, so probably in January sometime.

What's New on the Bookshelf?

There were too many new releases this past week, and I picked up the ones I could find in the local stores—The House of Cross by James Patterson, Clive Cussler's The Corsican Shadow by Dirk Cussler, and The Hanging Party, and Blood Bounty of the Mountain Man by William W. Johnstone and J.A. Johnstone. 

My local library had a few new free books. I grabbed Deuces Down: A Wild Cards Novel edited by George R.R. Martin, Wild Cards XI: Dealer's Choice edited by Geroge R.R. Martin, Wild Cards XII: Turn of the Cards written by Victor Milan and edited by George R.R. Martin, and Active Measures by Marc Cameron.

My new Kindle ebooks are The Rack edited by Tom Deady, The Bad Seeds by C.J. Skuse, The Navigator by Clive Cussler with Paul Kemprecos, and The Cabinet of Curiosities by Preston & Child.
