[Review] — "UNSUNG HERO" is a Heartwarming True Story

Today, April 26th, a powerful Christian drama called UNSUNG HERO is now showing in theaters. It tells the true story of the for King + Country family. You can purchase tickets at tickets.unsunghero.movie.

Joel Smallbone co-wrote and co-directed the film with Richard L. Ramsey. He also produced the film with his brother Luke. The cast includes Joel Smallbone (who plays his own father, David), Daisy Betts, Kirrilee Berger, Jonathan Jackson, Candace Cameron Bure, and Lucas Black.

The movie is set in the early 1990s when David Smallbone's successful music company collapses. He moves his family from Australia to the United States in search of a brighter future. With nothing more than their six children, their suitcases, and their love of music, David (for King + Country's Joel Smallbone) and his pregnant wife Helen (Daisy Betts) set out to rebuild their lives from scratch. It's a remarkable true story where a mother's faith stands against all odds and inspires her husband and children to hold onto theirs.

UNSUNG HERO is an entertaining family drama with Christian themes. At first, I thought it would be about the formation of the band for King +
Country, but I was wrong. Instead, the film focuses more on Joel and Luke Smallbone's parents, David and Helen, as they move their family from Sydney, Australia, to Nashville, Tennessee, and struggle to keep food on the table. Then, midway through the movie, the focus changes to their oldest sister, Rebecca (also known as Rebecca St. James), as her father does his best to get her an audition with a record label.

Overall, I enjoyed UNSUNG HERO. It's a well-made, wonderfully acted film about faith, hope, and the love of family, and there's also the love of music. ╌★★★★✰
