[Review] — "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" Almost Becomes a Dumpster Fire

I've been delaying, delaying, and delaying my thoughts on Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania for far too long, so I'm finally forcing myself to write this review. Why the delay? To truth is, I didn't like the film; it's my least favorite MCU film to date. If I hated the movie, then why review it? That's a good question with a simple answer, I received a digital copy for review purposes, and therefore I want to complete my obligation.

For those who haven't seen Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, here is a summary of the plot: Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), two superheroes, are back to carry on their exploits as Ant-Man and The Wasp. Together, Hope's parents, Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), and Scott's daughter, Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton), discover themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures, and setting out on an adventure that will push them beyond the bounds of what they thought possible.

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is directed by Peyton Reed and produced by Kevin Feige and Stephen Broussard. It also stars Jonathan Majors as Kang, David Dastmalchian as Veb, Kattorra O'Brian as Jentorra, William Jackson Harper as Quaz, and Bill Murray as Lord Krylar.

The film is available on Digital, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD. It's also streaming on Disney+.

Bonus Features include:

  • Featurettes
    • All in the Family: Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, and Michelle Pfeiffer discuss the complex layers and secrets yet incredibly strong bond of this heroic family.
    • Formidable Foes: Discover how Jonathan Majors, Bill Murray, and Corey Stoll bring gravitas to the villains of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Learn more about how Kang brings a Thanos-level threat to this adventure and the larger MCU.
  • Deleted Scenes
    • Drink The Ooze: Upon entering the Quantum Realm, Scott Lang nervously drinks the ooze.
    • I Have Holes: Veb expresses great excitement when he discovers he finally has holes.

The last few movies in the MCU have been a giant mess, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is the worst of the bunch. It has the thinnest plot, bad CGI, poor dialog, and questionable directing. The cast was the only saving grace that kept the film from being a complete dumpster fire, but it wasn't enough to make up for the horrible script. Whose dumb idea was it to turn Darren Cross into M.O.D.O.K.? Who's the idiot that approved of M.O.D.O.K.'s godawful CGI design?

I'm not a drinking man, but I imagine tolerating Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania—you would have to be drunk. I hated the movie and won't recommend it to anyone. ╌★✰✰✰✰
