{Sunday Post} - Don't You Hate It When Your Body Decides to be Sick?

Good Morning, Everyone! 

I had a dreadful week. Monday, I woke up with blurry eyesight. I got new dry eye drops and allergy medication. During the night, I had body chills and muscle aches. Then vomiting and a high fever kicked in. I tried taking Tylenol, but it kept coming back up. Once my stomach somewhat settled, I wrapped myself in a blanket and fell asleep in a recliner. Shortly later, I awoke and was able to swallow two Tylenol. The fever didn't die down until late Tuesday afternoon. I took a Covid-19 test. It came out negative, so I guess it's the regular flu. While the fever seemed to be gone on Wednesday, I now had acute bronchitis symptoms and spent most of the day sleeping in a recliner. Thursday, I thought I was on the mend. I felt normal until the early afternoon. That was when a fever kicked in again. On Friday, I went through the fatigue motions until my fever returned in the afternoon. I fell asleep and awoke in the early morning hours on Saturday. I couldn't go back to sleep, so I read a little bit and watched an episode of Star Trek. Then I fell back asleep and woke up around noon. Besides a bit of weakness, I'm starting to feel better. I ate a few slices of pepperoni pizza, watched No Time to Die, and wrote this post.

 

What Am I Reading? 

I didn't feel like reading until the early morning hours on Saturday. I'm on Chapter 5 (page 69) of Terence Fisher: Master of Gothic Cinema by Tony Dalton. It's the biography of British film director Terence Fisher (1904 - 1980), who directed many Hammer horror films. The book is a bit heavy to hold on to while reading. It's a portrait book size (8 x 10 inches) with over 500 pages. The author was friends with Terence and his wife and stayed in contact with their only daughter throughout the years. It's a heavily researched biography. Terence was a late bloomer in the film industry. It wasn't until his late 20s that he decided to quit his day job and become a clapper boy at a movie studio. He worked his way up from the bottom to become an assistant editor, an editor, supervising editor, and later a director. It's a great read so far.

What's New On The Bookshelf?

Typically, Scholastic sends me a review copy for every new Goosebumps book, but I never heard from them about Slappy in Dreamland. I ended up ordering it from Amazon. The packaging wasn't damaged, but the book's bottom spine had issues. Instead of dealing with the "return" hassle, I just repaired the spine with tape. Weirdly, I've seen other books in stores with glue or spine problems. I wonder what the problem is?
