Is romance only found in novels and movies?
This question popped into my mind after watching the movie The Secret: Dare To Dream a few nights ago. (FYI: I'll be reviewing this movie soon, so keep an eye out for the post.). It's a rare sappy romance that I liked.
Is it weird for a 39-year-old bachelor to like a romance movie?
Maybe I am romantic at heart, which would explain why I use to read a slew of romance novels. The keywords here are “used to.” While romance novels are enjoyable to read, they can also be depressing when you are single, which is one of the main reasons why I have slowed down on my romance reading.
Anyway, after watching the movie, part of me wants to visit the film's setting in Louisiana. Though, when I think about, if I ever decide to travel somewhere, then I would probably go to Florida. While there aren't very many romantic movies set in the 'sunshine' state, there are many novels set there, such as Hot Shade by Tamra Lush, Chained by Ruthie Knox, Suddenly a Bride by Ruth Ann Nordin, and Kiss the Bride by Deirdre Martin, Christie Ridgway, and Laura Florand.
Why do I want to visit Florida?
I want to see the beautiful scenery and walk on the beaches. And, of course, falling in love with someone would be great, but that's a fictional plot. Conveniently being at the right place, at the right time, and running into a soulmate only happens in movies. Right?
In reality, I could always use a dating app or website, such as Jacksonville Personals, to find a date in the Florida area. No, it wouldn't be two strangers randomly meeting and falling head over heels the very next minute, like it is in the movies. Thanks to new technology, we can connect with anyone anywhere, well, as long as there's a WI-FI connection, so dating in Jacksonville or anywhere else in Florida should be a breeze, even when you're only on vacation.
According to a survey by Topdeck Travel and YouGov, more male millennials want to find romance while on vacation than females. It's nice to see that I'm not the only one out there who wants to find love while on vacation. Long-distance relationships are becoming more of a thing for many couples, so I guess there's hope for me yet.
FYI: I guess I am technically a millennial since I was born in 1981.
Sadly, traveling isn't currently an option because of the COVID-19 epidemic. However, I would love to do some traveling in the near future. In the meantime, there are plenty of vacation-themed romances to read, such as A Season of Love by Heather Graham, The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks, and Within Reach by Barbara Delinsky.
