Good Evening, Everyone!

I hope everyone is safe & sound on this Sunday evening.

As you can probably tell by the lack of recent posts, I have had little free time again, so I haven’t gotten to my backlog of reviews. Well, except for one Blu-ray review, which got posted on Friday. Running around and doing errands for everyone else is wearing me out. I’m praying this epidemic will disappear overnight, but according to the stats that will not happen soon.

What Am I Reading?

II haven’t picked up Shadows of Foxworth since last weekend. The bookmark is still in chapter two. As you can see from the photo, the book has a brilliant cover. It’s just too bad the publisher couldn’t get a new ghostwriter. Andrew Neiderman’s writing skills have been declining in recent years, and each new book keeps getting worse and worse. If everything goes as planned, I will have a bit of time tomorrow morning to read. The print is big, so it shouldn’t take me too long to read it.

Next, I'm wanting to read Goosebumps Slappyworld: They Call Me The Night Howler! by R.L. Stine and Hawk by James Patterson and Gabrielle Charbonnet.

What's in the Mail?

There were no ARCs in the mail, and I probably won’t be getting any for quite a long time. With the country shutting down again, there will be a lack of new books and movies being released, though I’m sure the publishers will release a slew of new eBooks because they’re easier to produce than printed copies.

New Bookmark!

Once upon a time, many stores wereselling bookmarks, and then they just stopped. While shopping at a neighboring county's Walmart, I stumbled upon several $2.98 bookmarks. Most of them were for kids, but the Stranger Things bookmark caught my attention right away, and I just had to have it.

What's New on the Bookshelf?

With my mind being preoccupied with other things, I haven’t been paying too much attention to recent releases. I didn’t realize there was a new Goosebumps book coming out until the day of its release. Typically, I receive an ARC from the publisher, but because of my lack of knowledge about the title, I didn’t request to review it until after its release. I received a reply from my Scholastic contact that because of her limited access to titles, she couldn’t send me a review copy. Disappointing? No, not really, as I was expecting to receive a reply like this because of COVID. Anyway, I ended up buying Goosebumps SlappyWorld: They Call Me The Night Howler! on Kindle for $3.99, with the intention of buying the paperback at a later date to add to my Goosebumps collection. However, I stumbled upon the book at a Walmart (the same one where I bought the bookmark), so I got the paperback. The weird thing is, I haven’t seen a Goosebumps title at a Walmart in several years.

FYI: The book section was bare, but they had newer titles in stock, unlike my town’s Walmart, where they stock nothing.

I picked up Hawk by James Patterson and Gabrielle Charbonnet (the author who did all the writing). It’s a new sequel to the Maximum Ride series. It seems Patterson cannot let this series end. The last two installments, Nevermore and Maximum Ride Forever, were both publicized as the “final” books in the series. Books 1-3 were great, but then the writing declined. Hawk is set 10 years after the first book. I knew Patterson had a novel titled Hawk coming out, but I didn’t see the Maximum Ride connection until I found the book at Walmart. From only glancing through the book, I’m guessing it’s more of a reboot, though the plot takes place after the last installment.

Also, I received an eGalley of The Mockingbird’s Song by Wanda E. Brunstetter.
