5 Awesome Things to Do This Summer

Summer is almost here, and it’s time to start thinking about all the summer fun you want to achieve before fall arrives in just a few short months. You might be looking for some new activities and ideas to make the most out of the heat. Here are five awesome things to try during the best time of year.

1. Have a Picnic

Sure, this can seem old fashioned, but with social distancing as the new norm, having a picnic beneath the shade of a huge tree in the park is the perfect solution. You can still enjoy the outdoors and the general company of other people playing in the grass without worrying about getting too close. A picnic even provides great options for cracking open a beer or getting out your favorite e-cigarette from smokingthings.com without bothering the neighbors.

2. Renovate the Porch or Deck

Your porch or deck can be a great area to hang out on and drink lemonade when the day is just too hot for anything else. Not all of them have that inviting feel, though. If your porch doesn’t make you want to lounge around all day, consider getting a porch renovation at the beginning of summer so that you can enjoy it towards the end.

3. Go to a Botanical Garden

Botanical gardens exist in most large and mid-sized cities. You may have one nearby that you didn’t even know about. Visiting these can bring you the peace of the outdoors without traveling too far from home. You can learn some neat things about plants, insects and birds too.

4. Take a Road Trip

Sometimes you just need to get away for a while. Depending on how much time you have, you can escape on an epic road trip anywhere from a long weekend to an entire month. If you’re not sure where you want to go, sit down with a map and start circling some sites you’ve heard sound amazing to visit. Map your route around that.

5. Tube a River

Tubing is both relaxing and exciting at the same time. It’s especially good for a hot day when you feel like lounging in cool water. Just watch out for the occasional rock!

Summer is the best time to step outside of your comfort zone and try some new activities or plan a different event than usual. You’d be surprised what you can accomplish just within a few miles of your house.
