If you're not living under a rock, like me, then you were probably already aware of the series. I had no clue what it was about until I began watching the first season. It's a wacky comedy, just without a laugh-track.
The series centers on Kimmy Schmidt (played by Ellie Kemper) being rescued after living 15 years in an underground doomsday cult. Armed with only a 5th-grade education, Kimmy goes to New York City to rebuild her life. Shortly upon arriving, she moves into the basement of a building owned by Lillian Kaushtupper (played by Carol Kane). Her roommate, Titus Andromedon (Tituss Burgess), is an aspiring actor/singer, whose life goal is to be in The Lion King on Broadway. Then Kimmy gets a job as a nanny for Jacqueline Voorhees' (played by Jane Krakowski) ten-year-old son.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I enjoyed watching Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: The Complete Series ($74.98; 25 hrs 14 mins). It's a fast-paced, funny little series that easily gets your mind off of the current chaos in the world. It would have been nice if the Blu-ray set was released later in the year, as it doesn't include the new "Kimmy vs. the Reverend" special that aired on Netflix last month. Nevertheless, it's a nice Blu-ray set to own.
