The managers did not hesitate; without wasting time in asking how these confounded communications came to be delivered in an office which they were careful to keep locked, they seized this opportunity of laying hands, on the mysterious blackmailer.

  My Thoughts

As soon as I finish reading Star Wars: Heir to the Empire (there's only 100 pages left), then I'll start reading The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux, which is the new "The Haunted Library" edition that'll be published next week. I got an ARC from NetGalley. It's not the first time I have read the horror story so it shouldn't take me long to read it. My review for the new edition will be published on Tuesday.

  1. I've seen the play but never read the book. Is the writing good? My Friday Quotes

    1. The Phantom of the Opera was originally published as a serial in a French newspaper from Sept. 1909 to Jan. 1910. It was first published in one volume in March 1910. It's very well written. The novel is more Gothic horror than the musical play.

  2. Haven't read this, but I did see it live at Pantages theater back in '95. It was pretty epic! Happy weekend!

    1. I've never seen the Broadway musical but I've seen the big screen adaptation multiple times. There's a 1925 movie with Lon Chaney and a 1988 horror film with Robert Englund that are both very good.

  3. I've never read this, but I've seen a ton of the film adaptations. Maybe one day...
