Sunday Post: Joker, Zombies, Aliens, and a Dragon

Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @  Caffeinated Book Reviewer!

Good Morning, Everyone!

What Am I Currently Reading?

My Kindle is all charged up so I can finish reading A Longer Fall by Charlaine Harris, which is being released on Tuesday. It's the second book in the Gunnie Rose series. I just finished reading the first book, An Easy Death, a few days ago. I'll be posting a review for it sometime tomorrow. Speaking of posting reviews, I still have three books I read last year that I'll be writing reviews for this week. Later today, I'll be posting the review for the graphic novel Aliens: Rescue and and the Joker Blu-ray. After I get finished with A Longer Fall, I'll either be reading Highfire by Eoin Colfer or The Courier by Gordon J. Campbell. The latter is for a book tour and my review is scheduled for the 20th.

What's In the Mail?

Like I've already mentioned, one of my next reads will be Highfire by Eoin Colfer, which won't be published until Jan. 28th. Harper Perennial sent me an ARC that I'd requested. It's about a vodka-drinking, Flashdance-loving dragon who lives in the bayous of Louisiana. Yesterday, I received an ARC of the zombie novel Weeks: Book 1 by Jaysn T Turley. I had just signed up to review the title for an upcoming book tour just a few days ago. This is fastest ARC I have ever received — and there's a reason why. The author is from my neck of the woods!

Warner Bros. was nice enough to send me a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray of their newly released Joker movie. I'll be posting my review for it this afternoon. Lionsgate sent me the DVD of the horror flick The Lighhouse and the Blu-ray of Primal! I have yet to watch these two but I should have them reviewed by Wednesday.

More Star Wars Books!

Late one night, I found myself on eBay looking for Star Wars books. I ended up buying Vector Prime and Agents of Chaos I: Hero's Trial for $5 (including shipping). There's 19 books in The New Jedi Order series. I don't know if I'm interested in collecting all of them. Currently, I'm only interested in reading reading the first novel, Vector Prime. (Spoiler Alert: Chewbacca dies in it!)

Great Finds!

Yes, I stopped by the local thrift store again on Friday. I picked up two new titles to add my ever growing library ― Fallen by Lauren Kate and A Promise To Believe In by Tracie Peterson. I've never read any of the books in the Fallen series so it was nice to stumble upon the first installment. A Promise to Believe is the first book in the Brides of Gallatin County series, which I have never read.

Once upon a time, I used to watch the O'Reilly Factor; well, until its host, Bill O'Reilly, who was fired from Fox News for alleged sexual misconduct. Anyway, while I was at Dollar Tree to buy flashlights, I picked up Old School: Life in the Sane Lane by Bill O'Reilly, which was published just prior to his firing in 2017. I've read a few of his coauthored his historical "Killing" novels so thought I would give this title a chance. Plus, it's only a dollar. Also, I bought the thriller The Skin Collector by Jeffery Deaver, which is part of the Lincoln Rhyme series.

What's New on the Bookshelf?

I had pre-ordered Chosen by Kiersten White on Kobo and it was released on 7th. It's a sequel to last years Slayer, which is a spinoff of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I have the hardcover of Slayer but I have never gotten around to reading it. On Kindle, I bought Meg: Nightstalkers for $1.99 which is one of the books in the Meg series by Steve Alte. I have a hardcover of the original Meg, which I've owned since I was a teenager. Then I found Meg: Primal Waters on paperback at a thrift store several years ago.

    1. Charlaine Harris is a good writer. I've read all her Sookie Stackhouse (True Blood) books. Eon Colfer wrote the Artemis Fowl series.

  2. I'm looking forward to Chosen! Even though I haven't started my copy of Slayer yet... I really did love Buffy back in the day. :)

Hope you have a good week!

    1. I'll be reading Highfire next week. It looks really good.

I was a bit worried Slayer and Chosen wouldn't be as good as Buffy.
