Sunday Post / It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by The Book Date.

Good Morning, Everyone!

Well, there were a few scares this week beginning with a EF4 tornado that tragically hit Kansas and then touched down in a neighboring county here in Missouri. The tornado sirens were a blazing in my town nearly ten minutes after the tornado warning was issued by the National Weather Service. Yeah, I believe my town has a communication problem! Luckily, the storm skipped over my town. It didn't even rain!

The second scare came yesterday when my mother found my grandmother unresponsive at the nursing home. She called for a nurse, who believed my grandmother had a stroke.

It turns out my grandmother did have a very light stroke and she was life-flighted to St. Luke's Hospital in the city. She's recovering just fine; talking and acting like her normal self. She's expected to be released from the hospital sometime today.

Update: My grandmother hasn't been released from the hospital yet. The doctors ran a few more tests on her yesterday. They're trying to figure out why she had the stroke.

What Am I Currently Reading?

No, you're not seeing déjà vu! And, yes, I've already featured A Justified Murder by Jude Deveraux on this blog several weeks ago, but I got slightly distracted and I had to put the book aside for a bit. Since I've finally finished reading NOS4A2, I now have time to read A Justified Murder, which I'm going to pick up exactly where I stopped on page 35.

  4. Glad to hear your Grandmother is ok and recovering well... so scary!

I think out of all the natural disasters there are, tornadoes scare me the most, probably because I've never lived in an area where they were prevalent. I grew up in Southern California and have been in Oregon and Washington for the last 8 years {though we did have a tornado touch down here in Washington not too far away this past winter}.

    1. I've lived in Missouri my entire life and I've never seen a tornado; though I did see three tornado clouds when I was a teenager from one single storm that later touched down (all 3) after it skipped over the small town I grew up in. I saw the clouds when I was walking home from school. I ran home, grabbed my cat, and hid in the bathtub, as there wasn't a basement.

  6. Sorry to hear about both the weather scare and your grandmother's health scare. I hope she's doing better. I'm grateful that I don't live in tornado country anymore. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  7. I always think tornadoes are very scary, they do a lot of damage. We don't have them in my country to the same extent but we do get smaller ones at times. Hope your grandmother continues to recover. The Jude Devereaux mystery looks good, you weren't that far into it so you'd catch up quickly.

  8. My Mom is in the nursing home in skilled nursing after she broke her hip in January. It's a constant thing to keep up with how it's going.

I think all the weather has been crazy this year.

    Enjoy your new reads!
