Most of us hardly ever use pennies anymore, which is a
good thing if you are a coin collector. Published in 2013, "A
Guide Book of Lincoln Cents" is part of the "The
Official Red Book" series published by Whitman
Publishing. The book is very detailed; covering the history of
the cent coin, as well as the rarities, values, gradings, and
varieties of the coins. It also features colorful photos throughout
the book.
All three cent folders (1909-1940, 1941-1971,
Bicentennial) are the standard Lincoln Cent holder folders by Whitman
Publishing. The 1909-1940 folder has slots for the regular mints,
the Denver mints, and San Francisco mints. There is also a slot to
place the reverse side of a "Wheat" penny. The 1941-1971
folder also has slots for the same mints as well as for the reverse
side of the 1959 Memorial coin that marked the 150th anniversary of
Lincoln's birth. Underneath each slot in both folders is the number
of the coin's circulation (aka how many cents where made that year).
The Bicentennial folder has slots for the first Lincoln Cent (1909),
Wheat Cents (1909-1958), World War II Cents, Lincoln Memorial Cents -
Bronze (1959-1962), Lincoln Memorial Cents - Brass (1962-1982),
Lincoln Memorial Cents, Copper-Plated Zinc (1982-2008), Lincoln
Bicentennial Cents (2009), and Union Cents (2010).
Cowens Cent Mylars (2"x2" each) are a
must-have for any coin collector. Mylars are made out of cardboard
and clear thin plastic. They're easy to use - just place the coin in
the plastic area, fold the cardboard at the crease line. Then place
scotch tape around the edges of the cardboard. to make sure the cent
stays in place.
Lincoln Bicentennial Cent Frosty Cases (1809 - 2009)
has slots for two coins. Since the case is clear on both sides, you
can easily showcase both sides of the cents.
The Cent Size Coin Tubes are the standard plastic cent
tubes made by Whitman. Each tube can hold 50 coins (1850s to
present).
The 9-inch long blue Coin Storage Box can hold 39
plastic holders (2"x2"), though you can put the Mylars in
the case if you prefer. The case comes with two plastic dividers.
Overall, this is an amazing kit for the price. The "guide
book" is well put together, the cent folders are excellent, and
the rest of the cent Mylars, cases, tubes and storage are wonderful.
The kit would make a great present this holiday season for any coin
collector, young or old.

I received a complimentary kit in exchange for my honest
review. All opinions are my own.
