Review - Trust My Heart by Carol J. Post

Water Press; 264 pages; Buy Link; Blog Tour
Wow! It's been a busy month already, and my mind must be on overdrive as I had forgotten to publish two posts for today (including this one). I read Trust My Heart by Carol J. Post several weeks ago, so my memory is a bit rusted; resulting in me rereading the novel this afternoon.

Trust My Heart centers on a high-profile lawyer named Grant McAllister who travels to Murphy, North Carolina to sell a mansion he had inherited from his late grandparents. He had recently went through a nasty divorce that unfortunately had gotten the media's attention; so his plans is to sell the property as soon as possible and head back home before anyone finds out he is there.

Sadly, wishful thinking is just wishful thinking, as somebody already knows Grant is in town. Her name is Jami Carlisle, an aspiring reporter looking for that "one big story." Well, as you can probably guess, she's found her first big assignment - a story about the McAllister estate. Her plan is to introduce herself to Grant and start investigating everything she can find out about his family history.

Of course this is a love story, so you can probably figure out that sparks fly between Grant and Jami.

Final Thoughts: I don't read very many contemporary romances, but for some reason or another this title appealed to me. By the first line alone, "Decision making's a bear," I was automatically interested in the narrative. Both the main characters are well-written and likeable, which is major plus for me. At first glance the plot does reminds me of a made-for-Hallmark Channel movie, but less cheesy. Actually, I thought the plot was intriguing, and the author did a marvelous job with the descriptions and dialogue.

Overall, Trust My Heart is a wonderful romantic read.

About the Author: From medical secretary to court reporter to property manager to owner of a special-events decorating company, Carol J. Post's résumé reads as if she hasn't yet decided what she wants to be when she grows up. But one thing that has remained constant through the years is her love of writing. She started as a child composing poetry for family and friends, then graduated to articles for religious and children's publications. Now she pens fun, fast-paced inspirational romance and romantic suspense stories. Her books have been nominated for an RT Reviewers' Choice Best Book award and selected as an RT Top Pick. When Carol isn't writing, she enjoys sailing, hiking, camping---almost anything outdoors. She also plays the piano and sings with her music-minister husband. Their two grown daughters and their grandkids live too far away for her liking, so she now pours all her nurturing into taking care of a fat and sassy black cat and a highly spoiled dachshund.
