Q&A with G.L. Ross, author of Crosswind

Being released on October 11th is the contemporary romance  “Crosswind” (book three in The Flyboy Trilogy) by G.L. Ross.

You can Pre-Order "Crosswind" on Amazon & Smashwords.

The author has taken a few minutes out of her busy schedule for a Q&A about her newest novel.

When did you become interested in storytelling?

I can remember in sixth grade writing an essay and loving the fact I could paint a picture with words. Then in college my professors encouraged me to pursue writing, but it wasn’t until my son left for college that I wrote my first novel.

What was your first book/story published?

November 2013, “Turbulent Passion” book one in The Flyboy Trilogy.

What inspired you to write Crosswind?

Crosswind is book three in The Flyboy Trilogy. I’ve been excited, yet nervous, to write the conclusion. I knew my readers would be surprised and confused by Lance’s half-brother appearing and throwing Lance and Lisa’s relationship off course, but I also knew it was necessary.

What character in Crosswind is the most/least like you, and in what ways?

Lisa is a lot like me. She’s a flight attendant who studied psychology. She dreams of her Prince Charming and is strong in her faith and love of family and friends. We’re different is the sense she gives her heart away easily and allows lust to guide her. I must admit at her age I might have reacted the same when in her situation—who knows. I love Lisa because she says it like it is. She doesn’t hold back. In this book, Lisa comes into her own. I love the strength she possesses.

What is your favorite part in Crosswind?

The introduction of Lance’s two half-brothers Derek and Max. I love these two guys and their relationship with Lance. Crosswind gives you a look into Lance’s past, why he is the way he is toward women, and where the Goddess dream originated.

What was the hardest part to write?

The hardest part was delivering an ending my readers would love. I believe in happily ever after’s and I always want my readers to be satisfied at the end of a series or stand-alone book. Also, writing the Air Force reserve/War scenes was challenging. Fortunately, I have several pilot friends who provided feedback and one who went above and beyond answering my questions. He is mentioned in the acknowledgment section of Crosswind.

What would your ideal career be, if you couldn't be an author?

This is going to sound odd, but either a singer or a jury analyst like on the new show “Bull.” Now let me explain—I’ve been singing and dancing all my life and performed in several Theme Park productions and television commercials. I also went to college on partial dance and voice scholarships.

As far as a jury analyst, I began my Masters in Psychology focusing on adolescents. People have always said I’m really good at reading people, so I think it would be fascinating to analyze individuals for a jury.

Do you read reviews of your books? If so, do you pay any attention to them, or let them influence your writing?

I do read my reviews. Sometimes I have to talk myself off the ledge if someone is extremely harsh, but that’s when I remember and re-read all the good ones. The feedback definitely influences my writing. In fact, the reason I thoroughly explain the “Goddess” origination in Crosswind is due to a reader posting in their review for Burning Desire they looked forward to understanding Lance’s obsession with the goddess in his dreams.

What well-known writers do you admire most?

I admire anyone willing to put their heart and soul in print in front of the world. It is a scary, yet exciting thing to do. Lisa Renee Jones is my mentor and I adore her and her writing. Her support means the world to me. Lisa weaves a suspenseful tale like no one else.

Do you have any other books/stories in the works?

Yes! I have a legal series I’m writing, a second chance romance, and the first book in The Flyboy Series. I’ve never had three going at one time, but I get bursts of inspiration and I go wherever they lead me. Several readers asked me to write a series about each of Lance’s Flyboys, so after the Trilogy will be the Series. Each book is a stand-alone. The first one is about Derek, Lance’s half-brother, a fighter pilot in the Air Force.

Thank you soooo much for being a part of my book tour/sale/giveaway. I hope everyone will grab a FREE copy of “Turbulent Passion” if they haven’t read it yet. I think you will love my insight into the airline industry and fall madly in love with Lance and Lisa.
