Review - Precious Moments: Happy Harvest

Tommy Nelson; 32 pages; $9.99; Amazon
Available today in bookstores from Tommy Nelson (a division of Thomas Nelson Publishers) is Precious Moments: Happy Harvest, written and complied by Jean Fisher.

The original designs for Precious Moments were created by Sam Butcher in 1974 for J&D, the company responsible for releasing the early greeting cards, porcelain figurines and dolls. After Butcher and J&D parted ways, he started the Samuel J. Butcher Foundation and Precious Moments, Inc. in 1989.

Thomas Nelson Publishers has sold over 12.5 million Precious Moments books and bibles sold over the years.

Precious Moments: Happy Harvest is a 32-page picture book (board book) featuring Bible Verses, famous poems, prayers and original poems/stories by Jean Fisher that all center around the Fall months. Throughout the book there are adorable Precious Moments illustrations.

Final Thoughts: The Precious Moments figurines used to be the big crave throughout the '80s and '90s, and some of the figures are now worth a lot of money. I never saw the big attraction to the figurines, but I do have a few Precious Moments cross stitch pattern books that I found at thrift stores.

With a beautiful cover with the two kids with the wheelbarrow, I knew this was going to be a special book. While there isn't an actual story here, the book does cover all the blessings of the Fall months (September thru November). The poems/prayers covers going to school, harvest-time, playing football, playing in the leaves, going camping, hayrides, and Thanksgiving.

Overall, Precious Moments: Happy Harvest is an adorable picture book that will not only appeal to younger readers, but it will also make a great gift for adults as well, especially those who are a big Precious Moments collectors.
