Product Description:

From executive producers Roma Downey and Mark Burnett comes A.D. The Bible Continues the spectacular 12-part series that picks up where The Bible left off. This powerful spiritual journey begins with the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ, chronicling the heroic acts and sacrifices of His early followers during the most tumultuous of times as they change the course of human history. Featuring an extraordinary international cast, thrilling action and astonishing visual effects, A.D. The Bible Continues is an epic story for the ages...and inspiring entertainment for everyone.

Billy's Thoughts:

Now available to own on DVD & Blu-ray is A.D. The Bible Continues, the sequel to 2013 miniseries The Bible. It was meant to be an ongoing series instead of a miniseries, but was cancelled after one season aired on NBC this past spring. All 12 episodes are on the 4-discs Blu-ray set. Special Features include: Continuing The Bible, Casting A.D., The Past Comes Alive, Touring the Sets, The Fabric of the Time and Recreating the Power of God.

The series is based on the first ten chapters of the Acts of the Apostles. The first episode, The Tomb Is Open, picks up directly after the crucifixion of Jesus, showing us what Peter and the other apostles went through as they dealt with their leader's death. However, Jesus's rises from the dead by the end of the episode, which eventually leads Peter on a mission to share God's words with others across the land.

Similar to 2013's The Bible, A.D. The Bible Continues is meant to be a drama based on the Bible and not be historically accurate. The Scriptures' messages are still there, just slightly different than what you would expect them to be. I had watched two episodes when the original aired earlier in the year and I quickly tuned out as I got bored with all the Roman political jargon. After I saw a press release for the Blu-ray release, I thought I would give it another try and I'm glad that I did as it's not as bad as thought it would be. Overall, I thought the the A.D. The Bible Continues was a decent watch. I could make a great present for any biblical or historical buff this holiday season.
