Review:

Now available in bookstores is the fifth installment of the Journey of the Heart series from bestselling author Colleen Coble, titled A Heart's Promise!

Picking up shortly after the fourth installment, A Heart's Betrayal, Emmie Croftner is adjusting to the news that she is pregnant with her late husband's child. Well, I guess he technically wouldn't have been her husband as she found out after his death that he was already married to another woman. Luckily, her old friend Sarah Montgomery has kindly taken her in.

Being pregnant, unmarried and living at a Fort in the Wyoming Territory isn't an easy task for Emmie. One of the soldiers, Isaac Liddle, has taken a likening to her, but she is afraid to tell him about her pregnancy. And to make matters worse another woman, Jessica Dubois, at the fort has eyes for Isaac.

Unlike the first three books that featured Sarah Montgomery as the main character, it's taking me a bit longer to warm up to Emmie, a character that has one bad thing happen after another. At under 100 pages, the author wastes no time jumping right into the plot and she uses her clever writing to keep me interested in the fifth installment. Overall, while A Heart's Promise isn't exactly a perfect sequel, but thanks to the author's wonderful writing chops, it's still worth reading.
