There was over a two-year gap between book seven and book eight in the Maximum Ride series, titled Nevermore: The Final Maximum Ride Adventure. While at first it seemed like it was the last installment of our winged friends, we were duped! A ninth installment Maximum Ride Forever was released last month, making the title of this book seem a little silly.
Angel is presumed dead at the end of the previous book, but she was actually captured by the 99 Percenters, whom have blinded her and clipped her wings. With her telekinesis she can see the future - the death of Max!
Max and her flock are living in Oregon, trying for once in their life to have a regular childhood by attending school. Well, that is until the Erasers return and once against their on the run and must seek the help (once again) of Fang & his flock.
This time nothing is what it seems as their are traitors in their very own flocks, working for the deadly 99 Precenters, a group determined to bring the end to the world.
Just like what happened with the previous sequels, critics and fans hated the novel, especially the fans whom all wondered what Mr. Patterson was smoking when he wrote this book, which probably explains why he wrote a ninth installment to make up for this one. Just like everyone else, I have mixed feelings about this book. I mean what was the point of the entire series if the whole world was going to be destroyed. There are too many plot holes to count! Overall, Nevermore: The Final Maximum Ride Adventure is simply the worst book in the series.
