  3. Wow...I remember Animal Farm. We had to read it in high school.

    I love To Kill a Mockingbird, but my favorite classic is Rebecca.

  5. I totally forgot that George Orwell would be considered a classic. I'm crazy about 1984. I swear that book is one of the reasons that I love to read.

  6. @Vonnie R The book was published in 1959. There have been two film adaptions, 1963 and in 1999, under the title The Haunting.

  8. I have yet to read Shirley Jackson ... shhhh! ... I KNOW!! WHAT kind of lover of macabre fiction am I if I haven't even read "The People Under the Stairs" and "The Haunting of Hill House"? (hangs her head in shame and goes off into the ether) Definitely needed this reminder. Great list!
