Being a night owl, I always find myself watching late night television, which is full of infomercials, sitcom reruns, and low-budget movies. I happened to stumble upon the QVC channel where they were selling the Tria Laser 4x hair removal, a new advanced product similar to the laser technology used by professional dermatologist in laser hair removal treatments. Normally, I don't pay attention to anything be sold on a home shopping channel, but the Tria caught my interest as I have unwanted upper arm hair and back hair, which I shave every few weeks. I've considered waxing, but I don't think I can take the pain.
The Tria Laser 4x looks unique as it uses a Pulse Counter that can track the number of pluses per second. There is a Pulse Counter Chart that will tell you exactly how many pulses there should be per body part. One session a week for three months is suppose to show permanent results. The laser can be used on arms, legs, underarms, feet, hands, chest, back, stomach, Women's upper lip, bikini line, and chin.
It is the first laser for home use that has been cleared by the FDA. Clinical trials were held in 2007at the University of Arizona Health Sciences by Ronald Wheeland, M.D., where participants had a 70% reduction in hair re-growth after only two treatments.
The retail price is $449. It may seem a high price, but I wonder how much money people waste on razors and waxes every year to temporary remove their unwanted hair. Overtime, the Tria could save a few bucks.
