Now available on Blu-ray and DVD from RLJ Entertainment is the action-packed Kickboxer: Vengeance. Directed by John Stockwell, the film stars Alain Moussi, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dave Bautista, Gina Carano, Georges St-Pierre, and Darren Shahlavi.

Based on the 1989's Kickboxer which also starred Jean-Claude Van Damme, Kickboxer: Vengeance centers on Kurt Sloane (played by Alain Moussi) seeking out Muay Thai trainer Master Durand (played by Jean-Claude Van Damme) to help train him to fight the deadly Tong Po (played by Dave Batista).

Kurt's brother Eric, the World Karate Championship, had travel to Thailand to fight Tong Po in a big event, but was killed during the fight. Now Kurt is seeking avenge his brother's death by challenging Tong Po to a fight to the death!

A sequel, titled Kickboxer: Retaliation, has already been filmed and is scheduled to be released sometime in 2017. A third film called Kickboxer: Syndicate will start production early next year.

Being released on November 16th from The Wild Rose Press is the paranormal fantasy The Haunting of Hotel Labelle by author Sharon Buchbinder.

When did you become interested in storytelling?

Before I could write, in fact, I’ve been telling stories since I was a child—and got in trouble for telling them. Now I get rewarded!

What was your first book/story published?

Hmm, now you are making me dig through my files! My first published fiction story (I also write non-fiction) was PICA in Web Mystery Magazine in 2005. I was fascinated by a family legend that said we had a two-headed cousin in the Smithsonian Museum in a jar. My family roots are in Kentucky, so I combined that oral history with a mid-wife I created from Frontier Nursing, now a university, one of the first nursing services to send midwives out into rural areas, and the story grew from there. It’s creepy, but believable in a dueling banjoes kind of way.

What inspired you to write The Haunting of Hotel LaBelle?

My husband and I travel a lot for work and pleasure. We have had so many good, bad and weird (see also paranormal) experiences at hotels that when I was telling someone about our latest horror story, she said, “You should write a book about that.” That’s when the bells went off.

Wow! It's been a busy month already, and my mind must be on overdrive as I had forgotten to publish two posts for today (including this one). I read Trust My Heart by Carol J. Post several weeks ago, so my memory is a bit rusted; resulting in me rereading the novel this afternoon.

Trust My Heart centers on a high-profile lawyer named Grant McAllister who travels to Murphy, North Carolina to sell a mansion he had inherited from his late grandparents. He had recently went through a nasty divorce that unfortunately had gotten the media's attention; so his plans is to sell the property as soon as possible and head back home before anyone finds out he is there.

Sadly, wishful thinking is just wishful thinking, as somebody already knows Grant is in town. Her name is Jami Carlisle, an aspiring reporter looking for that "one big story." Well, as you can probably guess, she's found her first big assignment - a story about the McAllister estate. Her plan is to introduce herself to Grant and start investigating everything she can find out about his family history.

Of course this is a love story, so you can probably figure out that sparks fly between Grant and Jami.

When did you become interested in storytelling?

I first became interested in storytelling when I was 6 years old. At that age, I went from reading “See Spot Run” to reading novels within a few months. The first “big book” I read was called “Angel Unaware” about a deceased child, now an angel, watching his family from heaven. I was deeply moved by the book. It was like a lightning bolt through my soul, and I knew then that I wanted to do that, I wanted to write novels. Since then, writing novels has been the longing that leads me through my life.

What was your first book/story published?

I had poems published when I was a teenager in my high school literary magazine. A few articles were published in the Yale Daily News when I was in college. Throughout the years, I’ve been submitting poems and short stories to various places.

What inspired you to write THE YEAR OF LOVING?

I’ve been involved in the world of art for almost twenty years because my husband Sabin Howard is a famous sculptor, so I wanted to write about this weird, wonderful, mesmerizing slice of life.

What character in THE YEAR OF LOVING is the most/least like you, and in what ways?

The main character Sarah Paige shares my love of art and my love of the outdoors. However, she is a very different person. I used to be an astrologer and I always do my protagonist’s chart. Sarah has Libra rising, Sun in Aquarius, Moon in Pisces, in the Vedic astrological system. I have Virgo rising, Sun in Cancer, Moon in Leo.

What is your favorite part in THE YEAR OF LOVING?

When did you become interested in storytelling?

I’ve had a love for weaving stories since I was a child. My sister and I shared a room while growing up and many nights I would create adventures for my sister to listen to before she fell asleep.

Rule Breaker is my first published novel or original story. I have been part of a few publication while in college and during my consulting career, but noting in the creative writing realm.
