Do you post your book reviews as soon as you have completed the book or do you wait a few days?

2. Enter the link to your post in the linky list below (enter your Blog Name and the direct link to your post answering this week’s question. Failure to do so will result in removal of your link).

3. Visit other blogs in the list and comment on their posts. Try to spend some time on the blogs reading other posts and possible become a new follower.  The purpose of the hop is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

My Answer:

It depends if the review has to be posted right away, as there are times I have forgotten about a book and I have to read it at the last moment. Normally, I wait at least a day for writing a review; that way I can reflect on the book before I write the review.

Linky List:

Getting a Jump Start On Next Summer

When I say the word "internship" most people probably think of this past summer's critically panned "The Internship" starring Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn. An internship is a non-paying job (though there are some paying ones) or more of work-study to see if a person can handle a job.

You may think internships are only for college students and adults, but there are many companies offering summer internships for high schoolers. Sure, the last think most teenagers are thinking about is working the entire summer with no paycheck, but an internship can be rewarding and will look great on a college application.

I know it is almost Thanksgiving, but some companies and businesses are already accepting internships for 2014. You should ask your school councilor or your local career/job center (most towns have one) about applying for an internship.

Types of internships you can find are at universities, research facilities, children's hospitals, cancer centers, sciences departments, summer school programs, libraries, city halls, government buildings, news stations, etc… If you can't find the internship job you are wanting, locate the business you’re interested in and ask them if they will take an internship student.

Review - What Once Was Lost

What Once Was Lost
By Kim Vogel Sawyer
Publisher: WaterBrook Press
Pub. Date: September 17, 2013
ASIN:  978-0307731258
Pages: 315

Review:

Kim Vogel Sawyer has been one of my favorite Christian authors for several years now and I was more than eager to review What Once Was Lost, but the book got shoved aside. Luckily, I stumbled upon the book last week and I finally got around to reading it.

Christina Willems has been taking care of the poor at the Brambleville Asylum on a small Kansas farm ever since her father died, but the unthinkable happens when a fire breaks out in the kitchen, leaving the residents homeless. She asks the mission board for help in repairing their home, but until then they'll need somewhere else to live.

She scrambles across the town looking for shelter for them. She talks Levi Jonnson, a mill owner, into taking in a young blind boy named Tommy Kilgore. Levi wasn't exactly thrilled about taking Tommy in at first, but once he got to know the boy, a bond quickly grows.

It seems as if the Lord is challenging Christina as obstacles keeping jumping in front of her at every corner and it seems the Brambleville Asylum will never get repaired, let alone ever reopen. Some of the residents are sleeping in stables, living in boarding houses in exchange for doing chores, and others are staying in decent homes.

Benefits of Blogging

I have been blogging for nearly five years and I've enjoyed every minute of it, though it can be a little stressful at times, but writing about that topic would take a separate post.

Why did I start blogging?

Well, I've been a book lover my entire life. I had a small book community on MSN Groups, but MSN eliminated all the groups, so I turned to blogging to share my love of reading. At first my blog was just an outlet for me to talk about my recent reads, but as I began following other blogs, I learned blogging has many benefits.

I never thought blogging could lead to actually making money, but you can get paid to write on your blog through sponsored posts, pre-written articles, text links, and sidebar ads. And of course there is always Google AdWords.

Will you be able to quit your day job?

Writing Tips Wednesdays: Bad Writing Advice Everyone Should Follow

One of the best writing tips I ever heard is usually considered bad advice in the writing community. This writing tip won’t win you any awards, and it certainly isn’t a way to create the best books, blog posts, or essays in the world.

What is the tip?

Just write something.

Even if you have practically nothing to say, you are still better off writing something down.

Why? Because writing is rarely about extreme talent or having something clever to say. Writing, like many things, is simply a matter of practice. The more practiced you are, the easier it will be. The best way to become practiced at something is to do it. When you pledge to write, no matter what, then you will preventwriting procrastination and get farther than you ever thought possible.

This month, I am participating in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) and National Blog Posting Month (NaBloPoMo). If you are unfamiliar with NaNoWriMo, it is the challenge to write 50,000 words of a novel in one month. You have to write about 1600 words a day for this to happen.  NaBloPoMo is simply committing to post something every day on your blog.

Do You Remember Record Stores?

If you grew up in the '80s and '90s, then you probably remember seeing record stores popping up everywhere, like the one in the movie Pretty In Pink. I remember going to a small record store, which of course it had records, cassettes, 8-tracks and a small selection of CDs (they were a little pricey at the time).

I was just a little kid back then, but I did own a few records, such as Cavern of Courage: An Ewok Adventure, Smurfs, and Alvin & the Chipmunks. I know they weren't exactly music, but like I said, I was just a kid then.

As a teen I was in a music club, where I would get several CDs free for joining and I had to buy four more over two years. I would by the four very quickly, get out of the club and then I would join again. Sadly, there are no clubs anymore.

Thanks to the internet with its illegal downloads and iMusic, record stores have become a thing of the past, though you can probably find a few in the big cities, probably called "Vintage Records" or something similar.

Drive Away into the Sunset

If you are a new driver, you understand the thrill of purchasing your first new car. There is nothing like the new car smell and the anxiousness for the open road. Others may see it as a simple mode of transportation, but you see it as freedom. No more asking your parents, siblings, and friends for rides when you get the keys to that shiny new car. The sales team at Overland Park car dealerships walked you down that path to the car of your dreams, and you couldn’t be any happier.

There really are no words equipped to describe the awesome sensation of sitting in that driver’s seat with the ownership papers in your hands. You have been waiting a whole 16 years for this day to come around, and there is no doubt about whether you are going to become more popular in the eyes of your friends. The one with the wheels is always at the top, and you my friend, have just reached the top.

Whether you are driving a brand new model or a used car doesn’t really matter. All that matters is that you have reliable transportation that can take you where you need to go. It is easy for you to see all of the joyrides in your future, so you might as well drive that baby home and give your friends a call. There is no need to wait for tomorrow when you have a full tank of gas.

Review:

Disney is releasing Winnie the Pooh: A Very Merry Pooh Year: The Gift of Friendship Edition on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and Digital Copy today, just in time for the holidays. Pooh-rific bonus goodies are Disney Intermission (pause the movie to find games and activities), Sing Along With the Movie, Disney's Song Selection and Enchanted Environment.

A Very Merry Pooh Year was released direct-to-video back in 2002, which combines the 1991 Christmas television special, Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too and Happy Pooh Year. In this tale, Winnie the Pooh and friends (minus Owl who is not in this film) are getting ready to have a New Year's Eve party and they tell Roo the story about the Christmas that almost didn't happen. Christopher Robin had written a letter to Santa, giving him everyone's Christmas list. He drops the letter into the wind and hoped it would arrive at the North Pole.

Pooh realizes he didn't write down what he wanted for Christmas and retrieves the letter. He goes to Rabbit's house where he writes in the letter that he wants a pot of honey, but Rabbit, Eeyore and Tigger make a few changes or more like enhances to what they want for Christmas.

Pooh tosses the revised letter into the wind, but the wind is now blowing south, therefore the letter comes back to him. There is no time to get the letter to Santa before Christmas Eve, so Pooh along with Piglet decide to bring gifts to their friends. He disguises himself as Santa to deliver homemade gifts to his Hundred Acre Wood pals.

Review:

For thirteen-years, Dora the Explorer has become one of the most popular animated series on Nickelodeon. Today, Dora's Ice Skating Spectacular! arrives on DVD just in time for the holiday season. For an added bonus there are two bonus episodes, "Catch That Shape Train!" and "Dora and Perrito to the Rescue."

Dora's Ice Skating Spectacular! has arrived on DVD and will premiere on Nick Jr. on November 25th. In this 22-minute tale, Snow Princess has been injured and cannot skate anymore. The Ice Witch becomes the best skater in the Snowy Forest and takes away everyone's skates. A snowflake asks Dora for help, so Dora and Boots travel to the Snowy Forest and along the way she has to takes on several obstacles. When she finally arrives at Snowy Forest, she challenges Ice Switch to a skating competition.

Dora and Boots jump into a sticker book in "Catch That Shape Train!" and make a train out of shapes. The winds pushes the train down the tracks before the steering wheel shape could join the other shapes. It is up to Dora and Boots to help the steering wheel rejoin the train.

DVDFab DVD Copy review

The holiday shopping season has stared earlier this year with department stores having pre-Black Friday sales, giving shoppers a chance to get a few bargains at a discount price, but most people work during day, spend their evenings running errands, taking care of kids, etc., so they don't have as much time to do Christmas shopping. That's where the internet comes in handy, as you can find about any present for just about anybody, but there is always a few family members or friends that are hard to buy for.

Teenagers and adults are more technology savvy with their computers, iPhones and DVD players, so I would like to recommend the perfect present - the DVDFab DVD copy software.

What exactly is a DVDFab DVD copy?

Well, it is the best DVD cloner on the market, featuring the ability to clone/burn/decrypt/copy/backup any DVD from your movie collection or family home videos. With only a few clicks of a mouse, you'll be able to copy and burn any DVD or ISO file to a blank DVD. It is a great way to backup your favorite DVDs.
