Review - AQS Wall Calendar 2017

While there is still over four months left of 2016, bookstores are already stocking up on wall calendars for 2017. You can buy just about any type of calendar your heart desires, including quilt calendars.

Quilt calendars typically have one quilt design featured every month, and there are even a few that have foldout patterns to go along with the designs.

Now available to purchase is the AQS Wall Calendar 2017 (Retail $15.95).

What does AQS stand for?

It stands for American Quilter's Society, where they host AQS QuiltWeek® shows around the country every year. The twelve quilts that are featured in the AQS Wall Calendar 2017 were part of the winners circle at the 2016 AQS QuiltWeek® in Paducah, Kentucky.

Believe it or not, but there are just over five months left of 2014, meaning the department stores are going to be having 2015 calendars for sale. If you live in a small town like I do, then your local stores have a limited supply of calendars, so finding the perfect wall or desk calendar can be a bit of a challenge. Luckily this is the digital age and you can order any calendar you want by simply using your smartphone, iPad, tablet or laptop.

Accord Publishing releases many wall and desk calendars every year, covering about any theme your heart can imagine, from Family Guy to the Farmer's Market. They also publish many craft themed calendars, such as crocheting, knitting, water-coloring and quilting.

The 2015 Quilting Block & Pattern-A-Day Calendar was released last week featuring 68 different projects from Debby Kratovil and Jean Ann Wright. Instructions for each project ( overall dimensions & measurements and fabric specifications) are located on the back of the first page of each quilt design. The block patterns and templates for each project follow after the first design page.

The 68 quilt projects featured in this calendar are:

Review:

You know that 2014 is going by fast when 2015 calenders are coming out in stores. While you can easily wait until the end of the year to grab a free calender at a bank, many of us like unique calenders, like of our favorite television series, favorite sports team or favorite hobby. Whatever your likes are, there are plenty of calenders to choose from.

Back Cover, Showcasing Each Quilt!
I have many quilters in my family, including my mother, though I don't quilt myself (but I do know how to cross stitch), I have a fondness for the hobby. Since I grew up with quilters, I was dragged to quilt shops and hobby stores during my childhood, so I'm educated well about quilting. That being said, I took and interest in reviewing a quilting themed calendar. There are many quilting calendars on the market from different publishers. After reading good things about last year's wall calender from the American Quilter's Society, I nicely requested to review the 2015 calender and they generously sent me a complementary calender to review.

The calender features thirteen beautiful quilts that were selected from the winners of the 2014 AQA QuiltWeek at Paducah, Kentucky.
