{Sunday Post} — A Kim Jong-Il Production, Blind Fall, and The Scarlatti Inheritance

The Caffeinated Book Reviewer's Kimberly hosts a weekly meme called "The Sunday Post"!

* Weekly Tidbits *

  • I didn't have a functional toilet or shower until Friday morning. That is how long it took to reach a plumber. Either they didn't return calls or texts or were booked. The plumber that did show up was the one I had hired last month. The problem is around fifty to sixty feet into the yard; I don't know if it's a movement in the ground, a tree root, or the cold. The plumber will return after he has his camera back from the shop, which is currently in the shop. Concrete is expensive; I hope the issue is in the yard rather than the driveway.

  • Do you not find it annoying when a doctor tells you that you will receive test results in 24 to 48 hours, but in reality, it takes 4 to 5 days? Anyway, the good news is that my father does not have a blood clot; he has cellulitis caused by some form of trauma. What trauma? Perhaps a vehicle accident on Thanksgiving Eve left him hobbling, but he declined to see an EMT. Stubborn? Yep! Meanwhile, he's taking a second antibiotic, which appears to be helping.

{Sunday Post} — Lock Every Door, Lost Empire, and The Thinner

The Caffeinated Book Reviewer's Kimberly hosts a weekly meme called "The Sunday Post"!

* Weekly Tidbits *

  • Sewer problems, ice, snow, illness, and family crises characterized this past week.

  • My father is ill; he has an infection in his leg, which might be a blood clot. He's at home on antibiotics and needs to go to the hospital tomorrow for a test.

  • The worst of my cough, cold, or whatever ailment you want to name hit me on Wednesday night. The home test indicates that I do not have COVID. To exacerbate matters, I've been having issues with my wisdom teeth.

  • It snowed a lot—a lot more than what the so-called weather forecasters were predicting. Several big tree branches fell, but luckily, they didn't damage anything.

  • On Tuesday, there was a power outage for a few hours.

  • Tuesday was also the day when the toilets began to misbehave. Not for sure if it's a "city" problem, a frozen vent or pipes, or a partial blockage in the mainline.

{Sunday Post} — The Bad Weather Friend, The Law of Nines, and One Last Breath

The Caffeinated Book Reviewer's Kimberly hosts a weekly meme called "The Sunday Post"!

* Weekly Tidbits *

  • I've had a nasty cough and been sick for much of the week. It is only a cough; I don't believe it's COVID.

  • Reading-wise, I'm not feeling it.

  • Reviews will get posted as soon as I feel like it. Writer's block? To some extent, yes.

  • I've been binge-watching Babylon 5

What Am I Currently Reading?

I had a lot of things going on last week, so reading wasn't a high priority. When I did have time to read, instead of reading the books that needed to be read, I started Bad Luck and Trouble by Lee Child, which I'm currently on page 369 and should finish today.

{Sunday Post} — The Extinction Agenda, Heart-Shaped Box, and The 6:20 Man

The Caffeinated Book Reviewer's Kimberly hosts a weekly meme called "The Sunday Post"!

* Merry Christmas *

  • So Christmastime is finally here, and I couldn't be less excited. I'm not exactly "bah humbug. "I just don't have the holiday spirit this year—I cannot explain it.

  • I'll be having "Christmas" on Sunday, so whatever bookish gifts, if any, will be listed next week.

  • I watched the Barbie movie on MAX. It sucked—the worst movie I've ever seen.

  • The KC Chiefs play on Christmas Day. Let's hope they don't screw up.

What Am I Currently Reading?

Friday - Due to my holiday blues, running errands, and dealing with a sewer issue, I haven't had time to read all week. I did place a bookmark inside Losing Spring by V.C. Andrews (ghostwritten by Andrew Neiderman), but I haven't read a single word in it yet. Part of me wants to read Lee Child's Bad Luck and Trouble, a Jack Reacher thriller and the basis for the second season of Reacher, which just began on Amazon Prime; I might search for it on a bookshelf. Other books on my reading agenda are Tom Clancy's Command and Control by Marc Cameron and Making It So by Sir Patrick Stewart.
