Book Blogger Hop: 'Hooked on Books'

Welcome to the Book Blogger Hop!

This Week's Prompt:

What grabs you and keeps you hooked in a book?

My Answer:

I need an intriguing plot to grab my interest right from the start. Additionally, I prefer a protagonist who elicits strong feelings, whether I like or dislike them, just enough for me to care about their well-being throughout their journey. Detailed descriptions are essential for me. Lastly, there should be at least one good twist to keep me turning the pages.

  2. I agree, a plot that pulls me in from the beginning and characters I care about make such a difference. And a good unexpected twist can definitely keep those pages turning! Happy Reading!

  3. Same in finding a good plot and a character that I care about a necessity. But where we differ is that if there are no somewhat likable characters in the book, I probably won’t continue reading.

    1. I've read books featuring protagonists who are murderers or serial killers, and I often dislike these characters because of their actions. However, if the author has a strong writing style and develops the protagonist well, I find myself engaged in the character's story, even if I don’t necessarily like the character.

  4. I forgot about adding a twist to my list!

    Have a great weekend!

  5. Well said. I read mostly cozy mysteries and I need to really like the main characters to stay interested. :)

  6. I could do without a plot at all if the characters are intriguing.
