Welcome to the Book Blogger Hop!
This Week's Prompt:
Are there genres you read that you feel a little shy about?╍Submitted by Billy, Coffee-Addicted Writer.
My Answer:
I wouldn’t say there are any genres I shy away from reading. However, I might feel a bit embarrassed reading erotic literature, even though I don’t actually read that genre or have any desire to. (Though, do adult Westerns count?) Some genres simply don’t interest me for various reasons. It’s not a matter of shyness; they just don't appeal to me.

Like you, I think I'd feel a little shy about reading erotic literature. But that's probably also why it doesn't appeal to me.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't hesitate to read erotica, but I might feel embarrassed to post reviews for them since it's not a genre, I'm interested in blogging about.
DeleteThat's pretty much what I said! I read what I want to read and I don't read genres that don't interest me.

Have a GREAT day!

There are many new books by emerging authors that feature beautiful cover designs and clever titles. However, after reading the blurbs, I often feel disappointed or even intellectually insulted at times. As a result, I put the books back on the shelves and walk away. These are the titles that end up collecting dust in the store—at least in my area.
DeleteSame. Over time I’ve become much more comfortable owning my reading tastes. Books are meant to entertain us, help us escape for a while, and sometimes even challenge us. There’s really no reason to feel shy about the stories that bring us joy. Happy Reading!
ReplyDeleteI would feel more embarrassed than shy about reading erotica. I've received numerous review requests from publishers in the genre, but I've declined every time. While it might attract more readers to this blog, I'm simply not interested in reading it. The same applies to most romance novels. I used to read a lot of romances, but I eventually found the genre stale and became bored. Occasionally, I might pick up a romance, but it’s usually by a familiar author, and the plot must intrigue me.
DeleteSame. I only read what I enjoy so I'm not shy about it. I thought about putting erotic literature but as I don't read it I can't be shy about it 😂
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
I'm not shy about reading anything; however, I would feel more embarrassed reading erotica. I do enjoy Adult Westerns, such as The Gunsmith, Slocum, and Longarm. While these stories often involve the hero being intimate with saloon women and include graphic content, I’ve never felt embarrassed about reading them. This subgenre of Westerns emerged in the mid-to-late 1970s to boost sales in Western literature, and it was successful, with many series continuing into the early 2010s. The Gunsmith is still being published today, but under a new author since the death of Robert J. Randisi. Randisi wrote the books under the pen name J.R. Roberts.
DeleteSame with me. Hope you don't shy away from having a great weekend. :)
