My Answer:

My views on reading remain mostly unchanged; I still have a deep love for it. However, over the years, my tastes have shifted. As I’ve matured, I’ve gained a newfound appreciation for older books, which I often find to be better written than much of today’s new releases. I’m not saying all contemporary books are poorly written, but I feel that the standard has been simplified to cater to a younger audience that often has shorter attention spans.

When it comes to writing reviews, I’m constantly honing my style and enhancing my skills, and I no longer sugarcoat my opinions.

  1. As of today, we're using the linky widget that features thumbnails, allowing you to showcase an avatar, book cover, the BBH image, or anything else to represent your blog post. I just ask that everyone keeps it PG-13.

Additionally, I’ll be putting together the schedule for the 2026 prompts this month. If you have any creative or unconventional prompts to suggest, please feel free to submit them!

  2. My reading preferences haven't changed either, but I do write more succinct reviews.

    Great question and answer, Billy.

  3. I definitely read more widely than I did in my teens and early 20s- I used to only read horror but now read pretty much everything. Still figuring my reviewing out.

  4. The one thing that has remained steadfast over the years - my love for reading....

  5. My reading taste made one gravitational shift at an early age and has pretty much stayed consistent after that. I feel like I've added some various level of thriller or mystery or even levels of fantasy to my palette over the years but everything has largely fit into that general sci-fi/fantasy section I frequented during my Borders days!

    Have a GREAT day!
