My Answer:

I try to stick to a monthly budget for books and make an effort to be aware of upcoming releases for the following month. If I don’t receive a review copy, I set aside funds for the titles I expect to find in local bookstores. When I can’t find a particular book, and it’s not available at the library, I keep an eye on Amazon to snag it at a reasonable price.

For second-hand books, I don’t have a strict spending limit at my local thrift store because they typically cost between ten cents for paperbacks and twenty-five cents for hardbacks. However, prices can be higher at antique shops, flea markets, or Half-Price Books. I don’t visit those places every month—perhaps just a few times each year. When I do go, I try to plan a budget, though it can be a bit tough when I stumble upon lots of intriguing books.

As for eBooks, I aim to keep under $25 a month, but this fluctuates depending on what Kindle has on sale. Sometimes, I spend less, while other times, I go a bit over that amount.

I just focus on finding great deals.

  1. That is usually my method more or less. I love supporting my favorite authors so I get it in my head that I need to buy that book asap so that the series can continue. I've had too many favorites get canceled for whatever reason--likely sales--so my brain is like buy it now!

  2. Yes, well said. That's what I do. And I have a nice stack of books I've accumulated for times when I don't have a good library book at the ready.

  3. I've never looked for books at antique shops or flea markets. I very rarely go to those places anyway.

I am a stay at home mum so I don't have money to budget 🤣 I use birthdays and Christmas. I have so many books anyway that I don't feel like I will ever run out. I also don't have the space in the house to buy new books every month.

    Have a great weekend!
